Best wedding you have ever attended?!? spinoff

Caitlin, on May 1, 2016 at 5:55 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 19

Hi Everyone! I've seen so many posts on awkward wedding moments and worst weddings you've been to so I thought I would do a spin off- What was the best wedding you have ever attended and what it made it so fantastic? I have only been to a small handful of weddings so I would love to hear what made each wedding your favorite and why!

My cousin's wedding last year was memorable. Great food, open bar, good music. It really is the simple things that make great weddings! It didn't need a lot of stuff happening, just the basics!

    My college friend in 2013.

There were a few mishaps, and the food was meh, but It's been the only wedding I've been to where the bride let herself enjoy the day, and the dance floor and really let herself get lost in the moment instead of worrying about everything and everyone.

The best weddings I have been to were like giant parties. Good food, lots of booze, a dj that was good at keeping people on the dance floor and a group of people who like to have a good time.... I cannot remember their color schemes or what the centerpieces looked like but food booze and music are defiantly memorable

FH's Best Man's wedding. To be honest.... the food wasn't that great. The venue wasn't anything special but they had GREAT music. That's all I need! I had a blast!! I think I was in that sweet spot of being involved in the wedding, without being IN the wedding. I helped the guys get ready and brought a few things to the girls in the morning, but I wasn't IN the wedding, so I wasn't tied down to photos or anything. It was great!!

2nd place: A childhood friend of mine. Same situation, the wedding itself wasn't anything to phone home about, but the love in the air was contagious. Their ceremony was so intimate, I cried my eyes out. Same with the speeches. They were just a couple that you could look at and know how much they cared about each other (and not in a weird, they are hanging all over each other kind of way).

I would say a friends wedding a few years ago. It was small but I knew most of the people there. We traveled from Florida to DC for it. I think having 2 days to explore and be a tourist helped. It was just a great weekend.

I will honestly say I didn't care for the food at all. But it didn't make a difference in the enjoyment of the night.

One of my friend's wedding 2 years ago. It was about the reception, the ceremony was just amazing. The sermonette, their vows, the music and the love between the couple just blew my mind away.

One of FH's friends got married last June. It was amazing! The food was so good that people talk about it almost a year later. The decor was gorgeous, and it was really just like a big party. Plus it was at some swanky hotel in Beverly Hills... We're from the east coast, so it was definitely a treat.

A friend's wedding last July- their ceremony went directly

into cocktail hour, open bar, awesome DJ, and a booming dance floor. The food was so-so, but it wasn't horrible and didn't ruin anything!

It's what sold me on getting the best DJ we could.

I went to a wedding in South Korea once that was gloriously mad. They had a dry ice machine and a bubble machine in the ceremony, plus girls dressed as air hostesses created an arch of swords for the couple to run through after the vows. As the only non-Korean person there, I was brought into the wedding photos, which was a blast. And the meal was a 200-option buffet that included some of the most delicious and perplexing food I have ever had.

Second best was a quiet registry office ceremony, followed by a pub lunch, where the groom was a military man who they knew was going to be sent to Iraq soon. Those two just loved each other so much; it was obvious in everything they said and did all day. Only 15 people were there, and I felt so honored to be one of the few they chose to spend the day with.

I went to a wedding at Christmas time that was the most beautiful I have ever seen. Besides that one, my sister had a really fun wedding with lots of dancing and just a fun atmosphere!

I guess my cousin had quite a nice wedding with his now wife (and three babies Smiley laugh). They had decent food. I don't remember it being outstanding, but food is one of the things where if it was bad, I remember it.

They had decent music and I think the family just had a nice time together because they had everyone there. The venue was gorgeous which is one of the big things I remember about their wedding.

I loved my baby brother's *almost* as much as my own-- I mean, it was really close! It was totally laid back, casual, it was clear their attitude was, "We're getting married-- please come be happy with us!" The RD was just pizza, my 'gift' was a glass with the date and names of the grooms on it-- the BP was told to just 'match the wedding colors'-- it was terrific!

And that was the part under their control. The part NOT under their control was that, as soon as the ceremony was over (for an outdoor ceremony with a 1/4 mile hike to the reception site), while the BP was taking pictures it started to *pour*. We hid in the garage for about an hour, hoping it would stop, and finally, one by one, made the 100 yard to dash to the house.

The whole thing was light and fun-- nothing 'spectacular' or 'jaw dropping', but it left me with a real feeling of love and hope for my brother and his husband.

My step-cousin. Weather was perfect for an outdoor ceremony. Just long enough. Emotional vows without blubbering. Good cocktail hour food. Dinner was incredible. First dances were just long enough. Toasts were sweet and didn't get boring. Dance floor was packed with people of all ages. I hated leaving early because I had a long drive home.

When I was ten, I was a reader in my uncle's wedding. The welcome/gift basket they gave me included a new game boy and games. that was awesome. also the bride was Jewish and, being raised Catholic, I was completely fascinated by all the Jewish traditions.

As an adult, my best friend's wedding. I was a bridesmaid and she was a completely easygoing bride. I got to dress up pretty, drink champagne all day, and dance well into the night. Her venue and flowers were stunning. All my friends were there. It was a great wedding

One of the daughters of my parents best friends a few years ago. I drank a few bottles of wine, the dj was amazing and the venue was awesome. I had the best time partying with my parents and there friends. I can't wait to dance the night away at mine with all of them again
