I still have 1 year and 10 months before my fiancé and I get married. I’m not at my ideal weight (wearing a 12/14 and want to go back to an 8 minimum) and want to know the best weight loss advice that WORKS. I’ve gone to the gym (I need to go back more regularly again) and I eat fairly healthy...
I still have 1 year and 10 months before my fiancé and I get married. I’m not at my ideal weight (wearing a 12/14 and want to go back to an 8 minimum) and want to know the best weight loss advice that WORKS. I’ve gone to the gym (I need to go back more regularly again) and I eat fairly healthy (although my sweet tooth does get the best of me). What has worked for you and how do you get motivated? Any and all insight is appreciated!

You can't outrun a bad diet. No matter how much you run/swim/cycle/whatever, if you're eating too much, you won't lose weight (you'll be fitter though!). I second the advice to use an app like MyFitnessPal to track your eating; you really do need to be meticulous and weigh/measure everything you put in your mouth for it to work though. I was more than a little surprised when I started using it - portion size got me big time. What I thought was a portion of breakfast cereal, just by eyeballing it, was closer to two portions, as I discovered when I started weighing it. The beauty of MFP is that you can eat whatever you want, so long as it fits in your calorie budget for the day, so if you want a piece of cake, have a piece of cake - it might just mean you have a smaller dinner instead. It does take exercise into account as well so on exercise days you can eat a bit more. Basically it helps you make good decisions - if you think "I want a chocolate biscuit" and go to log it in MFP, only to see that leaves you 200 calories for dinner (which would be more nutritious food), it might make you change your mind.

Small changes are the way to go, as well - swap soda for water. Swap chips for carrot sticks. Decide on one small change, make that change and give it a fortnight to get used to it, then make another small change. You've got a good length of time, so slow and steady is going to be the way ahead.

Track everything and stay in a calorie deficiency. That’s what works. I also keep modified Keto low carb, drink lots of water, follow I intermittent fasting 18/6 and weigh out my portions.

I track everything on My Fitness Pal and do HIIT 6x a week. I’ve only had since Jan but results come majorly from calories in vs calories out, I’ve had great success -40# and only 10# from my wedding goal.

I lost about 10 pounds and quiet a few inches from drinking smoothies. I don't have an exact recipe but we each get a like 22 once smoothie this is a general recipe
    3 cups organic baby spinach
2 whole kiwis (with the skin on this has nutrients in it)
    1 banana organic
4 frozen strawberries (a handful organic)
A handful or so of frozen organic mixed berries
About table spoon of organic chia seeds
    About table spoon of cinnamon
About table spoon of organic ground tumeric
Flax seed oil (Dr just told me to use real flaxseed, the oil can effect male tostoterone)
Something called Standard Process Complete which is a plant based suppliment/protien but not really a protien
A significant splash of organic 100% tart cherry juice or pomegranate
A splash of V8 100% fruit/veggie juice (normally the super greens)
    Water
Fresh ground ginger (we love ginger so we use a lot)
Lemon juice (it brings out the ginger taste.

My Dr. Also just talked to me a out intermittent fasting. This is where u have set hour that you eat. Typically 6 to 8 hours in a day. He didn't talk about this for weight loss more for general health.
