Between Our Toes

AEW, on October 1, 2019 at 12:23 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 4

Hi hi

So we're in full weddinglandia swing and FH and I have been discussing some of the minor details. Our ceremony and reception will be on a beautiful beach at home in the VI and we didn't really think much about a major detail: sand.

During the ceremony it won't be that big of a deal, but for the reception, we didn't think about how that would affect the placing of the tables, chairs and possible dance floor. I'm sure there's a way to level things off so it won't be so uneven, but as we all begin to move about, it will quickly return to it's natural state. I know and have used like that plastic mat thing under a rolling chair at work and that may be an option, but idk. FH is concerned about sand getting everywhere (like in the food) but we've been to events on beaches before and it's really not that big of an issue. It's the beach - I expect some sand.

Has anyone else had to improvise or even build flooring for their event? Can anyone suggest what we can use to make the ground a little smoother, at least under the reception tent?

Hey there!! Your wedding sounds absolutely beautiful!

As you said yourself, your guests know that they are attending a wedding on the beach, so sand will not be a huge surprise to them!! Are you pitching your tent directly onto the sand, or will there be any type of flooring with it?

Personally I don't think i would dance at a beach wedding because the sand would make it difficult in my opinion but thats just me. I have seen people make flooring though and that would probably be a better option. You good look into wooden pavers (decktiles).

    Hey Sinead!

We're pitching the tent directly onto the sand. I don't think they're will be any flooring, just trying to make the ground a bit more level things can be more smooth.

    Hi Cassi,

I'm not worried at all about the sand. I believe the concern was about it getting too close to the food. But as I've said, we're been to functions on the beach before and I know that it's really not that big of a deal as long as you're careful (or over the age of 5).

I don't feel like we need an actual floor to dance on. We can party pretty much anywhere!
