bhldn Brides - What was your experience at Bhldn?

Meli, on May 9, 2018 at 3:21 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9
Hello!

I am going dress shopping at BHLDN. I stumbled upon their website and I fell in LOVE! If you have shopped there, i am curious as to what your experience was like? My concern is that it is located at a retail store and I wonder if that gets in the way from a bridal experience (with many people there and all!) doesn’t help that I’m super shy and I don’t want a lot of people watching me trying on dresses.

I will be going to the Beverly Hills location.

My cousin went to BHLDN and said it was a unique experience because there could be multiple brides in the room trying on the same dress and she couldn't help but compare how it looked on her vs. them. With that said, she did get her dress there!

Perhaps make an appointment at a less busy day and time?

My daughter went to the Chicago store and we had a private sitting room with a dressing room that she and the consultant used to change. We were offered champagne when we got to our room. It was the best experience dress shopping. The bonus was her dress was at her home three days later

I got my dress at the Newport Beach (Fashion Island) BHLDN in Feb (pics below b/c I LOVE it!!). I was pleasantly surprised considering the BHLDN "store" was smack in the middle of a giant Anthropologie. It was sectioned off by 3 walls, and there were displays strategically placed in the entrance, so passers by would have to really try to actually see you. The dressing rooms are HUGE actual rooms with real doors, and full sized mirrors inside. Granted, I'd only been to two other bridal shops at that point, but both had miserably tiny fitting rooms, and one was straight up curtains all the way around with little pcs of Velcro holding the "door" closed. Awkward.

I went on a Saturday, which I was trying to avoid, because I thought it would be more busy, but an appointment opened up and I had to jump on it. I really only noticed 2 other girls trying on dresses while I was there. I did have to share the mirror/platform thing you stand on right outside the fitting room with girl #1, but I didn't really notice b/c I was using it when she was changing and vice versa. Girl #2 had an entourage of probably 6-7 women, and each of them had someone on face time, so they were LOUD. They were having a good time, and they were off in their own space, so it didn't really affect me much. I didn't have any issues with having to share dresses with anyone else while I was there.

It was the only place where I felt like the sales girl understood what I was going for, and she kept finding dresses I hadn't thought about for me to try on. Also, being Newport Beach, I thought it was going to be super snobby (that city has never been my favorite), but the girl was great and I felt totally comfortable with her. She didn't push anything on me like other stores had, but she had tons of great feedback.

I'd definitely recommend giving them the names of the dresses you want to try ahead of time so they can have them ready. I even called the day before and added more to my list. That also gives them an idea of what your style is so they can pull others you might not have thought about. You get an hour appointment, and I think they're pretty strict about timing. I was in, tried on maybe 7-8 dresses, some more than once, found mine, paid, and was out in 1 hour and 5 minutes. I loved how no-nonsense it all was.

Good luck!!! Come back and tell us how it went!!

I went to one of the NYC locations. I was lucky to have a fitting room that was off to the side so there was a little more privacy. I only had my mom with me, which was perfect because of the limited size in the dressing room area. My consultant was very patient and I really liked the dresses. I ended up not choosing a dress from them, but would definitely recommend them.

I got my dress from BHLDN! My experience was a bit rushed, but that's because I came in with a list of like 10 dresses to try and we only had an hour. I wish I had stuck with the one I loved from the beginning and had the stylist pick out others for me.

I can't really speak to your concern though because the one in Manhattan is a private boutique. It was small and there were only three brides at a time, so I liked that.

    Have fun!

I looooved my BHLDN experience, but I went at a really weird time (like 10am on a Monday morning I think?) so my experience was not at all filled with retail bustle— I actually Had the place mostly to myself. THAT said, they did have the BHLDN section pretty separated in my store— the dresses were on a mezzanine level, and the fitting rooms were separated from the regular ones (though I’m not sure if on a busy retail day they would use them all for every day try ons?), but when I walked out to the big tri-fold mirror with the block to stand on to get a better look at my favorite dresses, I could sorta see out into the rest of the store, but not in a way anyone could just gawk at me, but again maybe it was just due to the off hour that I was there, but it was by far the most privacy I had in all of my dress shopping experience — both at DB and the store I ultimately bought my dress at were rows of girls trying on so everyone just watched everyone! — my BHLDN did have, I think, only one or maybe 2 of the big trifold mirrors so on a busy day you might get more of the ‘seeing other girls in dresses’ ...although now that I’m thjnking about it I’m pretty sure there was a second mirror , bc there was another girl there when I got started but i never actually saw her. Also there was a decent mirror and plenty of space in the fitting room, so I didn’t have to go out to the big mirror unless it was a good one.

It was definitely the most organized experience I had haha— they ran on Schedule, they had notes written about me from the survey I had pre-filled our when scheduling. It was my first shopping experience and the best way to ease into the game. I went in feeling frumpy and left feeling pretty. And there was absolutely NO pressure on me. My consultant literally told me I wasn’t buying a dress that day since it was my first time. She was helpful but not at all pushy. And she took a million pics for me haha.

Honestly once I disappeared into the BHLDN world, I didn’t feel at all like I was in a regular retail store. It was like a little intimate bridal boutique. They had all the necessary jacking up accoutrements and all that. I really loved my experience there ! Haha.

I got my dress from BHLDN and had a great experience there! I live in Colorado, which unfortunately doesn’t have a store but I had the chance to visit the Chestnut Hill location while visiting my parents back east. I had the first appointment on a Saturday and went with my mom. The consultant was so so sweet and genuine about listening to my thoughts and wishes. I honestly didn’t even notice other people there because I was so into my own experience and conversing with my mom and consultant. I ordered my dress online a week later and I couldn’t ask for a better experience!

I also went here after I already bought a dress (oops!) and I absolutely loved my experience. I wish I would've have went there first and bought my dress there. It was so much more relaxed than all the other bridal salons I went to. I didn't feel pressured to hurry up or feel like I was being forced to buy a dress. It was so great and I definitely would recommend them over most bridal shops.
