bhldn "true to size"

Meesh, on September 4, 2018 at 12:03 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7

So a lot of the dresses at BHLDN are tagged as "true to size, order in your normal size". We ALL know most wedding dresses are NEVER really true to size. Anyone here purchase their dress here and find they are, in fact, true to size??

My Rosalind gown was a little big, but that worked out for me cause I got it a year early and then ended up gaining a few pounds 😂

    I’m a street size 8-10 and my BHLDN dress is a 16 (though it’s big and I probably should’ve gotten a 14).

The dresses are by many any different designers though, so the sizing will vary. Consult the size chart for the dress you’re ordering, or just contact the store directly to order for you. You also have 30 days to return if it doesn’t fit.

Yes! Love my BHLDN gown but it does not run TTS. I am a street size 2, and ordered a 00 in Monica gown, per the measurements of the salesperson in store. If you’re ordering online, check out the size chart for each individual dress!

Definitely take your own measurements and use the size chart for each dress, since they’re by different designers and different fits. My calla gown is a 2 and I usually wear 2/4 in street sizes. You typically need to go by the most restrictive measurement based on the fit of the dress (e.g., calla is fitted in the top and waist so I had to go off of the largest measurement of those two and the hip measurement doesn’t matter since it’s not tight around there). Hope that helps!

Check the size chart for every dress. All wedding gown makers here and in Europe had a standard sizing for decades. Ready to wear, same thing, also sewing patterns. The designers and pricey stores started lowering the number of size for same measurements. People liked to shop where a 34 bust is a size 8 or 10, not a size 12. The lowest size made used to be 6, now 00. And stores keep going lower, for marketing purposes. They say once people know they are reliably a size 6 in one brand, they go back. But about 5 years ago, some wedding designers started the trend of going down toward street numbers. The big problem: Sellers of gowns who carried in their heads the old numbers, this measurement is this size, now have to learn every maker. A couple people complained about gowns ordered to measure, but clerk ordered wrong by 2 sizes. I know the makers, both changed sizing last year. So ask for the measurement chart for any dress you are thinking of ordering. And make sure the clerk has in front of her. , that chart and your measurements. Now, depending on the maker, a 32½ bust can be a 10, an 8, a 6, or a 4, according to maker. So do not guess a size, or let clerk do it from memory. Same with accessories - belts especially.

My mom ordered her dress from them and it was true to size for her. She's a size 6.

I ordered a few to try on from them and they were sized according to the websites specs. Check the reviews as well...people will give their opinions on what they have received.
