Big chest, spaghetti straps and tight fit = stuffed sausage? Help :(

Alana, on June 15, 2023 at 3:50 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

Hi everyone!

Today I went to my the alterations check before the wedding and I left really down.

Once the dress started fitting tighter, all I could see was my chest. The dress has boning and very thin cups, but none of these provide much support. Actually there's a big space in between my dress and sternum. My boobs are not the perkiest (but also not too saggy), and as the dress was tightened, they were pushed down and they look like they are very saggy. That also created some fat to appear around the top of my armpits. TBH, I feel like a stuffed sausage:

This is how the dress looked before alterations (here only the straps were shortened, but to a point were they where quite painful against my skin):

Unfortunately, my wedding is near the corner, and ideally the dress would have this kind of neckline, but now it's too late to change anything major....

I read about boob tape, but I am scared to wear it for more than the recommended 8 hours time. I have panic of removing the tape and being left with blisters/damage. Wedding is going to be in a very hot, humid environment.

The back of the dress is also a low cut, so no bra can be fitted. Is there any recommendations on what could I do? Smiley sad

I'd recommend a bra cup be put into the dress that is a push up bra cup so it has a shelf. It can make you look more perky or push them closer together. It can also take some weight off the straps of the dress if they're supporting or already tight. I have a big chest so I stay away from pushup things in day to day life, but in my dress it was the more comfortable option for my chest and gave it the right look. I get adhesive rashes so its also a great alternative if you don't want a sticky cup. I ended up with a narrower plunge dress. the horrible truth is a lot of us have a little fat around the armpits. Even when a dress is sitting right. Does everyone else focus on it? nope. How many times have you stared at another girl for it? I don't think you look stuffed I think you look graceful. You may have to readjust the strap if you get any sort of shelf cup put in opposed to what your alternative was, but being comfortable is important. This also sounds ridiculous but some people legitimately contour there boobs. I don't think you need to go that far. the picture you like has the cups in the dress at an angle to help the breasts rest in a flattering way so that could help if there's not a cup in it consider getting one? best wishes.

    Hi everyone,

Thank you so much for your suggestions! After another appointment, they actually closed up a bit the cleavage. I am still unsure whether to keep it like this or go for push-up cups as advised by Joey. I kind of feel the dress looses a bit its charm when we close the cleavage that much:

I think it looks beautiful, not stuffed at all, but I know how our own perceptions can be different. Try the push up pads suggestion, but if it pushes you up then you may looked stuffed. You look elegant and natural.

I agree with others to talk with your alterations person about options for different or additional cups to help lift your chest a little and get you well fitted into the dress. My daughter is a tall, thin 36DD, and the last thing she thought she needed was push-up padding, but in alterations they just couldn't get the boning/cups in the dress to fit well. They ended up using thicker push-up pads below and slightly to the outer-edge of her breasts and thin smaller pads that aligned with the top edge of her dress. With the two, she was "locked & loaded" for 12+ hours in her dress. The dress gave her the support she needed and there was no stress on the heavily beaded thin straps of her dress. She looked absolutely gorgeous, and it was a relatively inexpensive alteration that turned out perfect. Good luck!
