Biker Wedding Ideas? DIY?

Angeleahna, on September 9, 2012 at 4:58 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 14

So I'm having a biker wedding rite down to the ceremony (not derogetory to wimen still romantic but lightly themed). Our colors are red and black and I'm looking for any interesting ideas for almost anything but I have a very limited budget probly under or around $8000 so I'm doing alot DIY. Any ideas that could make my wedding unique would be greatly welcomed.

Welcome to WW, Angeleahna! I think you can work in that theme in a lot of ways -- come in or exit on a bike, have bikes on the invites, as a cake topper, etc. I think there have been (and still are) a few biker brides on here. Random Googling gave me this link that might help you: http://tattooedangel.hubpages.com/hub/Motorcycle-Wedding-Ideas-and-Advice

I hope you'll consider updating your avatar to something unique! The default avatars can get lost in the crowd and ignored. Here's how to do that and more: https://www.weddingwire.com/wedding-forums/new-to-the-weddingwire-forums-please-read-before-you-post/b433c40c1a62b96a.html

Do you have your venue yet??? What's it like? Let me do some serious searching. Have you been to offbeat bride yet?

    I've seen biker cake toppers!

You can also totally do all your stationary yourself, which totally adds some personality.

But I do think you should try offbeatbride.com. They may have some motorcycle themed weddings on there, and a lot of the brides are on a budget so even if they don't have a biker themed wedding they may have some good DIY ideas. And stick around on the forums, because a lot of us have good DIY ideas too!

    Thanks Cassidy!

Hi Angela, We had a biker themed wedding. It was a Fall DW wedding weekend in Vermont. Our venue was The Gray Ghost Inn, which has won "Backroad Magazine"s Destination of the Year Award. We were there 1st wedding. We booked the entire inn & used the entire first floor for the wedding. The owner was our officiant. Our theme was "What a long strange trip its been!" We had a banner hanging off the porch.

    Decor:

Welcome Bags were things for a saddle back: hand sanitizer, lip balm, wipes, tylenol, water bottles, a post card, snacks, maps of local rides, personalzied magnets, and a bottle of maple syrup.

Each table was named for a destination we have traveled on the bike. The table cards were shaped like bikes.

Our topper was a couple on a motorcycle.

Our escort cards had a gold motorcycle charm. Guests chose which destination they wanted to sit at.

The officiant read from "Zen and the Art of the Motorcycle".

It rained all weekend, so we didn't get to ride

Our goal for the weekend was riding and fun. While the rain prevented the riding, it was still fun. We opened Friday night with a welcome dinner and karaoke.

Our ceremony: Two relatives covered the Pink Floyd song, "Wish You Were Here" during a remembrance part of our ceremony.

Attire: My guests were invited to wear their colors or dress up. Surprisingly, most got dressed up. So, after we cut the cake, I had the DJ announce that we were taking a break to change to party for the rest of the night.

I found our topper on David's Bridal's wedding site.

Music: Classic rock with a smattering of 70's Motown/Disco. Our DJ played darn near every biker song you can think of.

Another thing canceled due to rain, we were supposed to have a bon fire. : (

Harley has a line of wedding merchandise. A simple google search will help find that stuff.

    Good luck!

Oh and my venue will probly be a comunity hall that wont suply much more than tables and chairs so Ill need alot of decore to make it not look completly plain. I also live in Calgary Alberta so travel isnt much of an option due to the budget but Golden BC I have alot of family there and could possibly have the wedding there for quite a bit cheaper so those are my options Im debating over and my ceremony will probly be in someones backyard or garden fingers are tripple crossed that the weather will co-operate.

These are not good ideas for a casual, HD, backyard wedding!! it should not cost 8000 bucks or more to put on a DIY wedding in your on backyard!! SMH!!! We are going to have one, going to look better than any of the pics on here!! And, it will not cost that much!! Thank goodness I can do a lot of decorations my self and I have several friends that is going to help!! We even have a friend who's Dad owns a Bar b que business that is going to let us have the works for hardly nothing!! Biker friends take care of each other!!! Forget that 8000 crap, and we are going to have an outside band, and it will be casual/ but classy!!!
