Bilingual Mandarin/english Officiant or “host”

Louise, on February 13, 2018 at 12:47 AM Posted in Maryland Planning 0 2
Are there no Chinese couples getting married in the DC area? Smiley sad

I’m trying really hard to find a Mandarin-speaking officiant or host (non-ordained is OK too) to verbally marry us, but it seems the few that exist only reside in New York or California. Any leads would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Louise! I'm searching but this is tough!!

Is there a church or place of worship either of you visit that you could ask? Or would you consider having a family member or friend translate the ceremony or just do a reading in Mandarin? Or you guys could say your vows in English and Mandarin!

If you aren’t sure where to find an officiant, maybe you can reach out to a Mandarin translation service. It’s possibly that they have someone who can officiate or they would know of people in the DC area with proper qualifications. And speakers of a language/ members of a particular culture tend to cluster if they are a minority, so if you make contact with one person, they might know someone who knows someone who is exactly what you’re looking for.
