How long did it take you to start experiencing the side effects (nausia, headache, spotting ect. ) of the birth control pill when you first started it? I am on day 3 and so far have no side effects.

Two weeks in, I had breakthrough bleeding that lasted for two weeks. The placebo week, I had nothing. Just finished the second month and had no side effects, so that’s a huge relief because I couldn’t take another experience like that!

It depends on your body... you're going to react based on how your body works. I tried 3 or 4 different BC's before I found one that didn't make me go haywire and also took the endometriosis cramps away.

Never. If you have these issues you need to contact the md and switch to another type of Oc

I've never had any of these side effects from bc, been on for over 10 years now! Its so handy to be able to change my period date when needed (I try not to very often, only if for vacation and if it happens to be my wedding weekend!)

I've been on the pill for four years now and the only side effects I noticed were positive: I lost five pounds the first two months, my overall mood improved, and my periods became so much more bearable. Don't stress on this; the benefits of birth control far outweigh any negative side effects Smiley smile

I have been on the pill for about 3 ish years- I believe- and the only side effect is that I went without a period for about the first 6-7 months of me being on the pill. I asked my doctor and he said that it was probably because before the pill I had a VERY easy period (3-4 days since I was 11 with little to no cramping). However, once I moved to California from Alabama I had to switch which pill I was using because my insurance here wouldn't cover it. So- now I'm on another one and I have been on it since with no side effects. My period comes now- but it comes a week before my week off is.

However, my best friend just got on the pill, and if she doesn't take her pill at the same time every day- she says she starts to spot. I've never heard of this but that's something!

I know this is an older post, but I wanted to mention... this happened to me with the first type of pill my doctor put me on. I was bleeding for two or three weeks a month for three months. She realized that it was the wrong type of hormone for me and switched me to a different kind. And suddenly, no more random bleeding. If your bleeding keeps up, I'd suggest asking your doctor about switching to something else. Once I got on the right pill, no mood changes, headaches or nausea either!
