Not looking to get pregnant after wedding anytime soon! Curious on what birth control everyone takes? I’m nervous about starting after reading so many horrible things!

I have Nexplanon. I am getting mine removed right after our wedding. We will be trying for baby #4.

Talk to your gynecologist. He or she is the best to give advice on this.

I'm on my second skyla, IUD. I did have some trouble with a different IUD but I love this one. My periods are 2 days permonth and in not a psycho emotional mess like I was on ortho tricyclin even l
The low dose was too much.

As some of the ladies mentioned, everyone’s body is different. Do some research and speak with your doctor about the best option for you. I’m on my second iud three years in and didn’t have any issues with the first five or this one. However some complain and have excessive bleeding etc with different bc. Good luck

I've been on Loestrin for years and really like it. It doesn't mess with my hormones like all the others I've tried.

Definitely talk to a doctor! Obviously something different works for everyone and there are sooo many options! Just make an informed decision.

Why aren't you already on birth control?

We're not doctors, only your OBGYN can tell you what method is best for your body.

I tried about 4 different pills and they all created horrible problems. Nuva ring was okay, but it made me gain about 15 pounds... Not ideal for a wedding. I have an IUD now (paragard since hormonal options seem to cause problems for me). I've been on it for two years and it is the best!

You need to talk to your gyno (or find a good doc if you don't have one you love already) and share your concerns and hesitations. Blood clots are very rare and they usually only caution a risk if you smoke or have family health history that might be a factor.

unfortunately the only way to know what your body will react to is trial and error.. so if you have some time before your wedding I would suggest starting sooner rather than later so you can switch if you are having reactions. I personally had issues with weight gain and water retention with some kinds and it took 6-9 months to sort that out when I first started taking it. I have to be on birth control to regulate my hormones for other female issues so I have been taking it well before I needed it for its actual purpose. some women can take any kind with no reactions or side effects and some (like me) or extremely sensitive to most all of them.

I used to take pills but I had issues with the 2 different ones I tried so my doctor switched me to Nuva Ring. I've only been on it a couple months but I like it better than the pills. The only thing I don't like is I have to take it out for happy time otherwise it's painful for me.

Nexplanon- no period since I put it in but others spot for a period of time. I’ve had no side effects other than some hormonal acne that was controlled with OTC acne cream. Speak to your doctor- there are some contraindications to the pill including history of clots, migraines with aura etc.

I take Junel Fe, a hormonal pill. For years, I took Zenchent Fe (also a hormonal pill), but several months ago, I switched because I changed insurance companies and they did not want to cover Zenchent, and it's since been discontinued. I did well on both pills.

You need to speak with a gynecologist, though. There are a ton of different kinds of birth control because everyone's body is different. What works well for me may have side effects for someone else, and vice versa. Your gynecologist will be able to make a recommendation for you that takes your medical history and your body into consideration. Keep in mind also, that sometimes you try a form of birth control and it isn't the right one for you. It can be trial and error until you find the perfect fit. Your doctor will help you find the one with the best fit for you.

I had the same thought but then I realized there may actually be virgin brides out there. I know, sounds crazy. Personally for me, I don’t buy a car without taking it for a test drive.

I take a pill. I've pretty much been on the same brand for 3 years. I've talked to my doctor and I will actually be going off of mine in August. I don't like taking them tbh.

    I started with Junel.. Ehhh

I have been on Enpresse for a couple years now, and it's great! Everything is always on time- I didn't gain weight or have mood swings on it.

Hi! it's best to talk with your doctor about what birth control options are best for you. I've been fortunate enough to be a candidate for Mirena IUD and I love it. Every body reacts slightly different to each hormone so what keeps both of us baby free might make you crazy and skinny but me gain weight and labile.
