Birthmark concealer.

Finally mrs.jkr, on August 27, 2014 at 5:27 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 11

Went dress shopping with my sister and the only dress she felt in any way comfortable was a lacy 1 shoulder dress...

The think is she has a huge birthmark on the other shoulder that she is super uncomfortable about and as much as I tell her she is beautiful with it, she hates it. She made me promise to get her makeup that would cover it up....

She has someone pasty skin and this birthmark is dark dark brown, like a ginormous freckle. What should I use to help her cover this up, I'm not much of a makeup person, and this would be a decently heavy job.

Dermablend. It can be covered and can stay all night. But it takes A LOT of practice and is never PERFECT. i recommend talking with a pro who specializing in tattoo and birthmark and scar coverage. below is a photo of my bff when she gave it a shot in large scale to cover her belly tattoo. so its possible to cover a ton of stuff, but hot and you'll have to be careful touching yourself and other people, it doesnt come off easy but eventually, with a sweating hot bride, it will smudge a bit.

I have time to practice several times with her... I was thinking of trying different things and then find what ever works, thanks. (We also have a friend that does makeup that's willing to help out)

DERMABLEND! Any skin color, any woman. It's expensive, but it works. Visit a counter that sells it (usually in a Macy's type of department store) and speak to a salesperson, or go to their online store. They also sell a setting powder so she won't have to worry about the product wearing off over time. Here, look around their site:

Thanks for the tips! It's not actually that large (like 2 inchesX 1 inch, but she feels like it is the hugest birthmark on the planet.... I think my mom used that once, I'll really have to look into that. Thanks ladies!

Yep. I use it daily to cover dark marks. Get the setting power that goes with it. I worked in cosmetic at macys, they sell it. You can also get it at Ultta.

I love dermablend. I bought the body cover initially to cover the scar from my tummy tuck and I loved it. I now use the makeup for my face to cover my dark spots. Definitely a little pricey but worth it Smiley smile

Dermablend is fabulous. You could also check up make up for tattoo cover up.

I have a big dark one on my shoulder (I'm very very pale!). It bothered me a lot when I was a kid, mostly because the other kids made fun of it. Maybe this is why it bothers your sister?

Now I don't mind, but I'm thinking of getting it removed for cancer related reasons. Does anyone know if Dermablend or tattoo cover up works on scars?

^^that's exactly it... it's so sad, kids told her it was a "poop smear" and thus she never lets it be shown.... ever, not even at home on a hot day when you would want to just wear a tank top.

Kat Von D makes foundation and concealer that is actually to cover up tattoos... I am sure it would work for birthmarks too! It's $34 but it works like a charm! I used it all the time serving to cover my wrist tattoos! It lasted all night through sweat and rubbing against stuff too!

Here's the link if you are interested! They sell it at Sephora and Ulta:

Is it possible to order the dress cut the opposite way (strap over the other shoulder)?
