Black and Ivory Wedding

Jessica, on July 5, 2011 at 2:24 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 12

I am wanting to do a very simple yet elegant wedding. I want black and ivory to be the main colors. I have thought about having damask table runners or squares on the tables with black linens. I want some other type of accent color. I have thought of deep red to use roses. If it wasn't for the roses, red wouldn't be my choice of color. Any ideas/suggestions? I am so overwhelmed while searching on the web. I could spend hours every day looking.

You know roses come in different colors.. or if you have the budget you can dye them the color you want. don't choose red because of roses.

If not red then what color would you chose. I think that those colors work very well together. Here are two pictures that I found with those colors to hopefully help get you started.

I think the key word here is "ivory". You will need to choose a color that goes with your choice of ivory rather than white. Red definately works, but not all colors will. I am using damask as well so I have an idea what there is available, and I would be worried about finding black and ivory damask. Everything out there is black and white. As far as colors that will work with ivory, deeper colors would work best like purple, burgandy, emerald, royal blue and the red you were wanting.

Do some research first. It is really hard to find alot of ivory items that match, since the colors have to be right on. The only ivory damask runners I have seen were a darker cream color.

I'm doing black/white with dark red. It's been really easy to find stuff. If you aren't set on ivory, reconsider- because it can be realy hard to find stuff.

My colors are black and white damask overlays and black linens. I started off black and ivory but believe it or not the selections are limited for damask in ivory. My accent color is royal blue because blue is fh favorite color

Since your wedding is less than a month after Christmas, you should be able to find a lot of red accents on sale.

My wedding is black and white with touches of yellow. I'm having white tablecloths with bacl&white damask runners and yellow cakestand centerpieces. I'm not sure how yellow will go with ivory, but I love it with the black and white. Also, I am having a brunch reception so the bright yellow fits with my time of day event.

I hate to say it, but I agree with the other ladies, getting Ivory to match is very difficult, have you thought about just white? I'm having black, white, and red. Funny enough don't really have anything red yet though! Red roses are a great way of adding a splash of color, or you can do something red in your centerpieces, like red candles.

I agree with savanna, deeper colors like purple or emerald would be really elegant

Thanks girls! I was thinking ivory because my dress is ivory. I don't have to have the damask but I do like the idea of having the design on the tables. I am now thinking of a real deep eggplant as the accent color.
