Black and white for an outdoor/afternoon SPRING wedding?

brandi, on September 8, 2011 at 3:28 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 15

I'm so over looking at colors and trying to decide. Every time I find something I like I end of finding some reason not to like it. So I'm debating on just saying screw it and doing simple black and white. My wedding is in spring and its outside during the day (ceremony starts at 2). I don't want it to be TOO formal. Bridesmaids would wear black. Is black and white a bad idea for my wedding?

I don't think so - we did black with pops of bright color to keep it from being too stuffy. (We had a whimsical/more casual feel.) You could always add a pop of bright pink, red, or kelly green - kelly green might be extra nice for spring.

I had the BMs wear knee-length cocktail dresses of their choice, then gave them coordinating shawls as gifts. They LOVED being able to choose their own clothes.

Thanks. I was actually thing of adding a little green too. I love green. I just was sure if doing black would be odd because I just think of black and white as more for evening weddings. At least if I chose little black dresses for the bridesmaids they could maybe wear them again.

Since your wedding s in spring, try pastels. Black and white is more wintery or evening like Brandi says.

It is more formal, but like Shannon said, add touches of pastely colors... spring weddings can go anywhere. I understand the color overload, try to pick 2 or 3 faves and its narrowed down

The flowers can be your decor always...... If black and white are your dominant colors, allows different shades of bouquets brighten the look for the season... You can so pull that off, It would look pretty too.

Pale pink, yellow, and/or green accents among the dramatic black and white would be very Victorian garden party. Smiley smile

If black is what you want, I say go for it! I've never believed that you can only use certain colors at certain times durig the year.

I do agree with the other ladies - use some sort of color witht he black.

Not a fan of making women stand in the sun in a black dress.

What about making it a little more "spring like" by getting a flower-print white dress with black flowers? That could be really cute!

I think it could work, but I immediately thought of a light yellow to add for a spring wedding, especially in the afternoon.

I am having a Sunday morning wedding at a women's club followed by a brunch reception in May... my colors are black and white with yellow accents (bright yellow). Black and white don't have to be formal. Martha Stewart has lots of more laid back black & white decor ideas. However, if you are uncertain choose an accent color you & FH can agree on.

I don't like it, to be honest. I'm sure there are worse things/colors out there... but black and the spring don't match to me. Black, spring, casual wedding doesn't match to me. lol. But I love Pumpkin's idea if you were into that.

    Perhaps a grey?
