It's really up to you whether you want to add an additional color with the flowers, and elsewhere, but it's certainly not needed. A black and white color scheme can look beautiful and very elegant. You can use 'black' mini callas (they're actually very very dark burgundy, but appear as black) along with white mini callas to create beautiful bouquets, and then accent them with black and/or white ribbon. Similarly, you might want to have some of the centerpieces black, some white, and some half and half. Other flowers that will appear nearly black include fern shoots/fronds, which is a very cool contemporary accent. And, with white, you've got lots and lots of choice. Best wishes to you!

I have seen pictures of black and white weddings and are beautiful!! About the flowers realize that you won't find a natural colored flowers in black but you can get black burgundy colors like mini callas or the black baccara roses. Antoher option will be tinted black roses take a look at this: http://www.fiftyflowers.com/product/Tinted-Black-Roses-_323.htm. Maybe is too dark but gives you an option!. Good Luck!!

I had to respond to your post because black and white are my colors! They are so classy and your wedding will be so elegant! Even though I like simplicity, you have the opportunity to tie in one accent color and really make it 'pop'.

Then, use this accent color in the flowers for the bouquets, and a slight touch on the tables... so to not take away from the black & white theme.

Another favorite thing for black & white decor are table diamonds... use black linens, votive candles and sprinkle table diamonds (actually diamond size - not the larger diamond stones) around the centerpiece - it just makes it sparkle - it's beautiful! (I always have some on hand if you need to rent them - they are difficult to find on-line)

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! Black and White is a great composition for your wedding. I've done a couple this last year, however they did incorporate an accent color like 'Fushia', 'Crimson Red' or 'Kelly Green'. If you've been to my website, you will see I'm partial to 'Yellow/Gold'.

However, its your wedding. If you like the style of a clean, chic Black & White wedding...go for it! There are many ways you can do this style without breaking your budget. Where as there are not really 'black' flowers, only extremely dark purple/red flowers that look black, you can design your event keeping Black as the base and White as your accents. Meaning go with Black and White linen, vases and other design elements and use cool, crisp White flowers to bring in your 'color'.

Again, congratulations on your upcoming celebration and Happy New Year!

    Congratulations or your upcoming wedding!

My colors are also black and white. I chose to incorporate a bit of color by having my centerpieces be crimson red. The table clothes will be black and the napkins will be white. My bridesmaids will wear black and carry white callalilly bouquets and I will carry a crimson colored bouquet. I've seen this color scheme in pictures and it just looks so elegant and classy. Best of luck!

I'm also doing the black and white theme... I just haven't decided on my accent color. We are getting married in December so I'm thinking about red. I would do the bridesmaid dresses in black with maybe some white trim and then use red flowers for the bouquets and decorations. I also like black white and silver together... I think that would look really need for an evening wedding. What does everyone think about using black white red AND silver? Or is it better to pick one or the other? Here is an example of what I would like for my reception tables... I thought about maybe doing something like that then adding red to the centerpiece? Any ideas? Smiley smile

Black and white weddings are absolutely stunning. You can add an accent color for the flowers if you would like. Try checking with your florist to see what flowers are in season at the time of year you are marrying. You can pick up some great ideas from them about accent blooms. Rose, Mauve, deep crimson, they are all great accent colors for a black and white wedding.

Black & White can be dramatic, elegant or graphic depending on the way you tone the designs.

Adding Hot touches of color like red or Vibrant pink is amazing and adds a touch of fun and romance.

Lime green is a good neutral yet vibrant that will make the white pop.

Dont be afraid to play with textrues, like swirls and circles too.

I did a wedding this past year with all white and lime flowers and we used tall black and white glass vases with black and whit dot ribbon, everyone raved about how crisp and fun the look was.

As an event designer, IF YOU WANT A COLOR ACCENT...I suggest color accents at different times. Since you're getting married in the summer, use one color accent for the reception such as lemon yellow or raspberry or silver or gold or lime green. Centerpieces can feature a flower, get matching colored napkins, wrap a sash around the base of the tall cocktail tables, create a specialty drink to match the color accent and give it a fun name, etc. Then switch up for the dinner.

IF YOU DON'T WANT A COLOR ACCENT...consider using different kinds of linens. Consider fabric textures...silks, satins, sheers, brocades, etc. Also consider linens featuring embroidered patterns, designs, sequins, etc.

I have great relationships with reliable linen vendors for you to select and choose linens.

Black & white are so classy. I think you could go either way by adding an accent color or not. Bright pink flowers would really pop against black dresses or a variety of bright colors: orange, yellow, purple. It's YOUR day....you can do it however you want.

Absolutely any color goes with black & white, so you really can't go wrong if you want to add an accent color. Do you have a favorite flower that you are using? If you don’t have any particular flower in mind, ask your florist to suggest what flowers are in season in June in your area. Then simply go with the main color of you bouquet. You can carry that color scheme throughout your wedding, from invites, throughout your ceremony & reception, & for your Thank You cards.

That is great. How about White Scopes with Black ribbon for your photo favor. A photo of you inside for your guests to keep forever. Scopes are very unique and new to the wedding scene.

    Check it out.

I would add color with the folowers. But I think that all white boquets are too plain. Also my grandmother insists that they are bad luck and wouldn't allow me to have an all white boquet even if i did want one.

Congratulations Keia. A great accent color for Black & White is Champagne. My sister used those colors for her wedding. Us Bridesmaids wore black tea legnth dresses and carried mango calla lilies while my sister's bouquet was white calla lillies, and the groomsmen wore black tuxes with black vests and ties with white shirts (looked stunning) and my dad and BIL wore black tuxes with the champagne vest and tie with white shirt, and for their centerpieces they had orange roses (since they wanted to add a touch of Syracuse University Colors into their scheme minus the navy blue). They even had sheer overlays over their table cloths. It was extremely classy. If you want, please contact me if you would like me to e-mail you a few pictures so you can get an idea of how it looked.

Also for their cake it was decorated with white calla lilies. Really any color will go with black and white, but maybe adding an accent color will make the black not look like dark holes which someone else suggested.
