black envelopes

Soon to Be Mrs., on April 21, 2014 at 4:13 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 13

Has any one had any issues with mailing black envelopes? I would like to use them for both the invitation and RSVP cards.

I was on hold with USPS for over 20 minutes and decided to just hang up without clarification.

I understand that some people find black to be morbid or inappropriate but I personally think that the black envelopes will look very nice. Plus, If you feel otherwise please keep your opinion to yourself! =]

I don't see why you would have issues nailing black envelopes. You can mail flip flops on their own as long as there's an address and postage. Just make sure they're labeled clearly and correct postage.

I don't know why you'd have an issue using black envelopes?

Just make sure the addresses are written in a legible colored ink and you should be fine.

I plan to use black envelopes (invitations are black and gold) with gold ink for the addresses and hadn't thought anything about there being a problem with mailing them.

I am however, having a problem FINDING black envelopes! Where are you getting yours from?

    That sounds cool! Smiley smile

On a side note...I hate calling USPS. I have to regularly for my job and I despise it.

Envelopes.com...I went with white envelopes with the black liner...but they have all kinds of sizes, colors and thickness. I believe there is even a tab specifically for wedding invite envelopes

I'm doing dark brown and just sent a test run through the mail with no problem. Hoping they don't give me any issues when sending a large amount at a time.

From what I have heard is black envelopes can't go through the automated mail process (the bar codes/machine sort) so their delivery may delayed a bit. But other than that as long as it is readable it should be delivered just fine.

I used black envelopes addressed with white ink for my rehearsal dinner invites. No problems mailing them - took them in person to have them weighed and the postal clerk didn't say anything about the color.

ETA- bought them at Paper Source.

As long as it's legible, any color is fine. What USPS really cares about is odd sizes, rounded corners, and protrusions/bumps which all make letters unmachinable.

BTW, for those looking for sources try Paper Presentation and Cards & Pockets.

Envelopemall.com has them. Black is an elegant color and commonly seen in the mailbox. Make sure you use a metallic gel pen that shows up. Silver and gold are good for this.
