Black suit with light brown shoes

Elizabeth, on August 25, 2017 at 11:20 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 38

I personally LOVE this look! Our wedding is in November and not very formal. I think the brown look tones it down and makes it more stylish. There are a lot of people that have done it I've seen on Pinterest and google. The bridesmaids are mismatched creams/blush tones and my dress is white lace with a champagne underlay. I want to know if anyone else has done the black suit with the brown(cognac) shoes?

I understand there are people won't agree with this and that is not what I'm asking. Just looking for those who have done this. Thanks!!

If your wedding is not very formal why is he wearing a tuxedo? Tuxedos are meant for formal evening wear after 6 pm (maybe stretch it to 5 pm).

ETA It is easy to find information on the proper way to wear a tuxedo.

You added a pic. It's not a tuxedo.

ETA Thankfully my FI has never shown up in a black tuxedo with brown shoes.

ETA You also changed the title of your thread. Now you are calling it a suit.

He can wear a tuxedo if he wants to. I think that if he matches the tie/bowtie and vest with his shoes it would be fine

FH would have a fit if I suggested brown shoes with a black tux..

I agree with Muriel, if it's informal, why a tux?

Not necessarily informal but definitely not black tie. A woodland theme and a more laid back atmosphere.

I think the brown shoes are nice but I would not do a black tie then.

Pretty sure FH is doing navy suit and brown shoes. I don't love the look of black suit/brown shoes but it's different.

I'm planning on doing champagne colored bow ties or ties with the brown suit and cognac brown shoes.

They don't go together, IMHO. If you like the look of the brown shoes, how about a navy suit?

I was thinking of doing navy or dark grey suits instead of black but my bridesmaids are mismatched creams and blush tones and I think doing navy or grey would add more colors and would be too much.

My boss wears this combo a lot and it always looks nice on him. That color is more of a neutral to me rather than "brown". I think of chocolate brown when I think of brown shoes.

ETA: Saw your last comment. I think navy would actually look nice with the creams and blush colors.

Yeah it is not a brown but a neutral. I love black and the cognac brown together. I think it's a new twist on classy but is edgy and unique at the same time. Plus with our woodland theme and neutral bridesmaids dresses, I think black on black would be too much.

UO, but mixing blacks and browns is very in right now.8 don't know if I'd do it with a tux, but I think it could work with a black suit. You do have to consider though, that a lot of things that are in right now will go out of style in a few years and you're going to have those photos forever

Is your FH normally a very fashion forward guy? Pretty much anything looks great on a model, even brown shoes with a black suit which is normally a no-no. It just may not translate the same way on your FH. What does he want? I know if i suggested this to my FH he wouldn't never go for it.

He isn't into fashion a ton but he is very good looking (although I'm sure I'm biased! Lol). If he was taller he could be a model without a doubt. I suggested it and he tried it on altogether and loves it.

My apologies as this is my first post and I had originally thought the picture posted. I realized after posting I said tux and suit and went back to change it to both suit. It's great to see most people are supportive and can actually read that I asked for people who have done this before and not just opinions. Don't people have better things to do? Lol
