Black Veil - Opinions?

I originally didn't want to wear a veil, until I came across the one in the first photo. From there I was inspired to recreate the look only in black, which I feel I accomplished well. I will be wearing a white gown with a black sash and black shoes, a white veil just didn't feel like "me". FI is alright with it, but is afraid I'm already going to give his family heart attacks over the sash and shoes amongst several other things, like my brooch bouquet that if you look closely at you'll realize has about 10 large spiders in it and my brother being my man of honor that will stand in on my side....Anyway, I figure that to respect his family I may not wear the veil, if I do it will just be for a few personal photos, but I'm also kind of sad that I'm giving up the look I want for my wedding day. What do you all think? Am I making the right choice?

First photo is inspiration, second two are the veil I made.

I think for a close to Halloween wedding I say why not. It's not a full on black veil. It's a snazzy birdcage. Is it possible to see you in a full dress with it?

I want to see the bouquet as well!

@HalloweenBride I LOVE your veil it will look great with the dress, and so unique Smiley smile

@Anniebell its your day I like the idea of doing something unique and different. I would go for it, in the end the only thing that matters is if your happy and sounds like you would be sad without it.

Anniebell, I think you should wear whatever you'd like. It's your wedding and your style. I don't believe in making concessions for others where one's wedding is concerned (or much else, really). You want to look back and love what you wore, what you danced to, etc. not have regrets because Aunt Mable might have clutched her pearls. Go be yourself, it's yours and your FH's day!

LOVE the black veil! I want to do one myself. My dress has lots of black on it too -- I wanted an all-black dress but my city isn't fashion-forward and doesn't have anything like that here.

I just can't picture myself in all white...a black veil is much more "me." So if you want to have one, go for it!

I say rock the black veil. I don't think it's overkill and if that is you then do it. There is nothing offensive about it. If FH is okay with it then I think there is nothing wrong with it.

If you want to wear it, I say wear it. I totally get that you want everyone else to be comfortable at your wedding. In fact, sometimes choosing to do something/not do it make me MORE comfortable than if I got my way (does that make sense?? Sat here for five minutes trying to think of how to say that), so if it would make you feel better to kind of compromise with FH's family, then go that route. :-)

I reallly like the black one. Im planning on wearing black too, yes Im sure comments will be made. Oh, well. People will get over it. YOU should be happy on YOUR day. Im doing a birdcage too though this long veil keeps catching my eye. If you really want a change it, maybe just change the netting to white?

Thanks for the input ladies! I'm now set on wearing it to the ceremony. : )

Love how many of you are considering black veils as well! You ladies who have worn one or are planning to wear one look lovely (HalloweenBride and Marlina in particular).

I will definitely post a photo of everything together once my dress comes in, it should arrive next month! Its been a loooonnnng wait for this damn gown, approx. 9 months for turnaround time.

My thought process is as follows: It's YOUR wedding, not theirs. It is your photos and memories, not theirs. It's your style and comfort level, not theirs. I can promise that in less than 24 hours post-nuptials, they won't even remember what they had such disdain over, if they even remember they had any disdain to begin with. I think it looks great (especially after seeing HalloweenBride's photos). Rock it out, and look glam doing it! Smiley smile
