Just buy a white dress if you're even a little worried you will regret not wearing one. just my opinion. there are lots of ways to be "original" in a white dress.. maybe add some ribbon or something!

I'm doing ivory and though I love my dress I'm a little regretful I'm not doing something a tad more creative. I've seen some really pretty dresses on here that are white with black lace appliqué that might give you the feel you are looking for, without going completely black. I've also seen some lovely blush ones as well.

I would love a black wedding dress if I could afford one. I got my dress for free and although I do like it alot, I would have definitely loved to wear black.

I'm wearing a yellow gown. I've dreamed of wearing a yellow dress forever and I did try on white gowns, but just knew something was missing. Wear what feels right, if you go dress shopping you will get a better idea of what you'll like.

I hate the idea of wear a traditional wedding dress. I went with a lace dress in Latte.

I'm absolutely in love with Heathers dress (here: https://www.weddingwire.com/wedding-forums/bam-tease-non-pro-pics/416716a7fdf03a15.html). It's a white dress with a black overlay.

My dress is not all black, but it has an all-over, bold print that is mainly black.

You should wear whatever you feel most comfortable wearing.

I plan on buying a blush dress. My mother wore a pink lace dress for her wedding and I want to keep up the tradition.

Mine is going to be red on top. Wedding hasn't happened yet, but so far I am very happy with it. Every time I show someone the fabric they tell me how beautiful it will look on me. I can't wait. I say where whatever makes you comfortable!

I am planning on an ivory or champagne. Black looks so beautiful though, I am just not that bold of a person. If black fits your personality and would make you happy, totally go for it!

Mine is blush with pink beading all over. More hollywood glam than traditional bridal.

I'm all about color- I say dooooooo eeeetttttt.

But try on a few for sure. Get a sense- you may find you like the white- or off white- or egg shell- or ivory.

Do what ever makes you comfortable (don't make a choice to make others happy, make your self happy!).

Just to mention it, untraditional colors are much less common that you think, I ask our photographer last week when we talked how many colored gowns she has photographed and i was supprized by her answer of ONE. (she has been a #1 knot photographer and in the business over 15 years). Her answer surprised me a great deal.

    Good luck with your choice.

In history, wedding dresses were the best dresses the girl had. Only when Queen Victoria of England got married did she wear a white one which led to the trend of wearing white on your wedding day. When I was previously engaged I had a black and white dress, now I'm going to wear an off-white tea length one once I find it that is.

I'm digging this up from the archives, since I'm planning on a black wedding dress! (I never reall wear white or light colours, and want something with drama!)

@Danie V, what colour dress did you end up choosing?

@Jessica - I bought a beautiful black and white gown! I must say that when I went shopping and was swarmed with all the white, ivory, and light colors I felt like I was being asked to conform. I definitely went out of my comfort zone by getting a dress that really screams 'bridal" but with black detail on the bodice for that extra oomph.
