Blank/DIY Printable Wedding Invitation Kits

Grace, on March 24, 2014 at 2:14 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 19

So I've seen printable wedding invitations on Etsy where the shop sends you a .pdf of the invitation. BUT have any of you seen pretty DIY invitation kits where you buy physical cards (typically w/ decorations on them) and you just type and print out all the text on the purchased cards?

I've seen them online at Target or Party City but I can't seem to find anything other than very basic embellishments. I've seen ONE cute one on Papersource's website, but I'd like to see other options too. I'm going for a soft, garden/botanical look.

I thought I'd be able to find something similar on Etsy, but all I can seem to find are digital files. I want to print the invitations at home, but I'm concerned that printing so much color would get pricey too.

I've always only seen the plain (kind of chincy, overdone) ones. I wanted to DIY but I just couldn't find any I liked. If you decide to go professional/ordering...LOOK FOR SALES!!! They can save you a butt load. I got 100 STD magnets and 125 seal and send invites for $240-ish on DB during one of their sales. Also the more you order, usually the less they are per invite.

I haven't been able to find anything like that either…but i once made some for a friends sweet 16. i just got the simple cards and dressed them up a bit by punching two holes on the top and stinging it with a bow. it looked super cute at the end! if your into all that diy stuff this would be a good option otherwise on invitationsbydawn.com they have a pretty good deal on invites. i forgot the exact name they had them as but its a 3 in1 set where you get the invite, reception and rsvp card all at one price…i believe the one i was looking at was about $160 for 100 invites which isn't bad compared to other companies.

just remember, if your going the diy rout, all that ink is what is going to send you over budget so think it over carefully!

Jacquie - Exactly! Thats why I was hoping I could just get a pretty, color design and print out the actual info in black ink at home.

    Will look into those!

They have to be fairly plain to go through the printer. Embellishments have to be done afterwards,

Michael's, AC Moore, and Hobby Lobby all sell invitation kits like what you're describing. They won't have a lot of sequins or bling since, like Pezzy said, they need to go through the printer. But they usually have a nice selection of colors and designs. Some you can add ribbon to afterwards.

The pdf styles that you buy off etsy can be taken to staples or something and printed there. It's way easier than the invitation kits and may possible be cheaper.

What Pezzy said ... you can buy them relatively plain and then add to them if you'd like. the ones you buy at michael's or wahtever are always going to be a little more generic so more people can buy them, but they aren't difficult to customize.

Gartnerstudios.com has a lot of them. Though last time I ordered from them I waited 5 days, before finding out what I ordered was actually out of stock and I had to cancel my order.

I used Gartnerstudios from Michaels, they have lots of invitations with nice emblishments on them. I got tons of people asking me about my invitations, they were a huge hit!

I got these at Hobby Lobby and used the 40% off coupon they send out and bought one box a week until I had enough, the His & Hers line they carry has some cute stuff. This saved me bookoos as to what I would have spent to have them professionally made.

BTW there are lots with the floral look, and right now they're all 50% off.

I bought a digital file on etsy. For 60 sets it cost me $20 at Staples (that included cutting as well). Granted it was B&W, but color won't be *that* much more.

I created my own on publisher and then went to staples online and was able to upload my own design and they took care of the rest. 50 invitations and envelopes for 25.00! I bought the wedding kit from wal- mart and my printer wasnt compatiable and since I have missed the return window I am trying to sell them.
