Blasé about Beauty

Honestly, hair and make up is the furthest thing from my mind right now, but everyone keeps telling me I “have to look like a bride/“
I had my hair and make up done as a bridesmaid for my friends wedding, and honestly, I don’t recognize myself in the picture.
I’d rather do it myself and look like someone I know, but i am feeling the pressure.
We are also taking off on a camping trip the next day, so my nails would get messed up if I get a manicure.
thoughts? Should I give in?

If it’s not something you want then don’t feel pressured. You should feel like yourself only maybe a little glammed up that day but if hair and makeup isn’t your thing don do it.

Girl, I was in the same boat. I don't wear any face makeup ever, just eye makeup and occasionally a lipstick. Everything I read said I would looked "washed out" in high quality photos so it was "better to get your makeup done professionally". Well I did my makeup like I normally do for our engagement photos and I was perfectly happy with the way they turned out, I looked like me!

SO with all that said, I've decided to do my own makeup for the wedding because it's important to me that I still look like myself and I'm also just not comfortable having all that stuff on my skin. As for the nails, that's totally up to you. I wear press on nails for all special occasions that stay on for about a week or two and easy to take off when I get tired of them. Acrylics are so bad for your nails and I end up wanting to take them off after a few days anyways because I don't like the way they feel. So that's my plan for makeup and nails, hope this helped!

I didn't want that stress on my wedding day. I like being super glam, and I'm super picky about HAMU (even though I never do my own or have makeup on during a normal week) so I was very specific. I didn't want to have the pressure on me, then not be happy with it. Plus makeup photographs so well when it's done professionally, and I knew a professional would make my HAMU last way longer than I would. Could you find an artist who could do something really natural that is a good compromise for you? I would also do your nails even if it's for 1 day. I did shellac on my toes, it lasted 2 months after our wedding day and we went hiking/swimming/etc. on our honeymoon. I did acrylic nails so obviously those lasted longer too.

I would at least do a gel mani if you have the time and inclination to, but that's just me. They wouldn't get messed up on a camping trip if it's your natural nails. I'm also a non makeup wearer and will be doing my own makeup. The Duchess of Cambridge did her own makeup on her day and look how beautiful she looked!

I was basically told the same thing when I said no makeup for me at the wedding! I don't wear any on a normal day and didn't want to look totally different. Plus, I really think my FH has never seen me with any makeup! Stay true to yourself!

If you dont normally wear makeup, no need to start now, but you may want to do something with your hair to match the occasion.
