Blended family ceremony rituals

Cheryl, on July 8, 2018 at 6:14 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 2

Hello all! I am getting married to a wonderful man who has a daughter who will be 18 years old when we wed. I also have 2 children. My daughter will also be 18 years old (she is 2 weeks older than my future Step-daughter) and a 15 year old boy. All 3 are in our wedding. I would like to do some sort of blended family ritual. Trying to avoid candles and/or sand? Any thoughts? ideas? Tried and true suggestions?? Thanks!

Some people use the bible verse "and the two shall become one". After you exchange your vows. You kids can join and maybe your officiant can say and now the "five shall become one".

We are using a blended family vow that incudes all of our children. I got the idea from a sand ceremony site. We are doing the sand part, but you could leave it out and just do the vow piece. Here is what it says:

Each of you is now a resource into which, as family members, you may come to, throughout your life times, for direction, meaning, and love.

Your Parents strive to provide not only the basic needs, but a nurturing and loving environment in which each of you find the confidence to reach the highest goals of your hearts, minds, and spirits.

This is part of their vision of what your family is. Do you each accept the responsibility of being an important part in the building of this family, and to forever contribute your best efforts to maintain the closeness and strength? If so, say, “We do.”
