Blended family ideas for wedding party

Mallorie, on February 21, 2022 at 6:36 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 1 4
My husband and I have 7 children between the two of us. We did a court house marriage and our wedding is in June. We have 6 girls, two toddlers, an 8 year old and three preteens and my son is 10. I want them all to be part of the wedding but I'm not sure how to go about doing this. Any ideas?

How wonderful you have so many to include in your big day! First, I would ask them all if they want to be part of the ceremony. Some kids aren't comfortable in front of a crowd and may rather sit down and watch. If they want to participate, these would be my suggestions:

Preteen girls - Junior bridesmaids (can also do a reading during the ceremony)

Boy - Ring bearer (he's probably old enough to have the real rings)

8 y.o. girl & toddlers - Flower girls (older one can lead the younger ones)

    Thanks Jasmine,
I didn't even think about asking them, I just assumed. I think this is the plan we're going to go with as long as everyone is comfortable!

I think it would be super cute if your son walked you down the aisle. I've seen other blended weddings where such occurred. The toddler girls could be the flower girls, and the other four girls can all be junior bridesmaids. To echo another sentiment, though, the most important thing is to talk to the older ones first to see what they actually want to do in the wedding and if they'd like to do any of these particular things.

Same situation here. My sons will stand beside me holding the rings (12 and 7). His adult daughter will stand beside him, and his son has autism and didn't want to do anything, so he will be sitting in the front row.
