Blue Nile?

MrsDrum, on March 11, 2017 at 1:38 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 13

We are going to be upgrading my center stone to a larger diamond. It is a 1 carat right now but my setting is large and swallows it. The original diamond was purchased at a local store that doesn't do diamond trade-ins and only have a very small selection of high quality diamonds that are or of budget.

My original diamond is a higher quality but I'm wanting to get a larger stone in a little less lower quality. We are going to have to sell the diamond and buy a new one. We have a decent offer on the diamond from a local diamond buyer.

We are looking at Blue Nile but I'm a little worried because I can't see the diamond before I buy it. Would you recommend Blue Nile?

My engagement ring and wedding band are both from blue nile and they're lovely. Pictures don't show how truly sparkly they are.

It's a win win because if you don't like the diamond, you should be able to exchange it until you are satisfied. Don't cut quality in clarity. I agree with Jessica. You can downgrade in color a bit. GH is perfectly fine. I wouldn't go any lower than HI. You can also do VS2. I'm a little bothered by SI.

I'm GIA cert because I sold fine jewelry for a decade in my former life.

This is my current diamond. I will look for similar clarity but different color.

He originally wanted a larger diamond but the jeweler refused to put one in because he didn't want it to take away from the band he designed. There are gaps around the center stone that we both don't like.

The strange thing is my ring is SI but the jeweler said there's only one spot he can see in his microscope so he thinks it's actually a VS. I can't see the spot at all.

FH purchased my ring from Blue Nile and I love my engagement ring! It's exactly what I wanted as an engagement ring as well as what he envisioned. Also, we are going to purchase our bands from BN.

Blue Nile and James Allen are both top rated engagement ring sellers, but if you're anxious about buying a diamond online without seeing it first then I say go with James Allen - their 360-degree super zoom feature on the diamonds they sell is pretty phenomenal!

Plus, there are so many ways to see real James Allen rings and reviews online - it really helps to get comfortable before taking the big step.
