Blush/gold vs rose gold

MrsCtobe, on April 10, 2017 at 7:30 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 29

Is a "rose gold" color scheme less attainable than using a combination of blush and yellow gold? As popular and trendy as rose gold has become, I still don't see it in many stores like yellow gold. I can always DIY and custom order somethings. I guess my question is whether you regret picking a uncommon colorway or was it worth the extra effort to have something different. (I know rose gold is far from original but what I mean is that it isn't sold everywhere)

I am incorporating some rose gold into my decor, but I think of it as an accent color to my main palette. I don't center everything around it, but use it for a pop (but this is easy for me...as I don't want too much metallic).

That has made it a little easier.

What sort of rose gold elements are you looking for (you may have to do some DIY)?

ETA: I have developed a new love for painting (including spray painting), which has made things easy!

I was torn between rose gold and champagne gold. I didn't really have any problems finding rose gold things...then again it would have been an accent color so I didn't look for a ton of things.. I chose champagne gold... I'm spray painting a lot of things to make it the right color.

@FitzwilliamDarcy that is a solid plan, i was thinking rose gold as my main color and accenting it with taupes and white. the elements that I would like in rose gold would start with stationary and cake. After that I should probably be more selective about where I throw the color.

@FutureMrsE it sound like I'm gonna need to learn how to spray paint, lol. champagne gold is so elegant! I love that shade but since I'm on a beach idk if you would even be able to see it against all the sand

Foiling is fairly common in stationery right now, so that could be one way to include rose gold.

Our guest book (it's an alternative poster) has some rose gold ink incorporated into it (I used Miss Design Berry for my invites/guest book), which was a nice element of color.

This blogger did a testing of various rose gold spray paints, and this proved useful for me when searching: http://kastyles.co/rose-gold-spray-paint/

I kind of do because there aren't many rose gold components but I made do with what I had. So now it's cross between rose gold, gold, blush and champagne

Copper is one of the main colors throughout our wedding and I do not regret it for a second. We purchased copper candle holders as our centerpieces, we're building a copper arch and we have copper geometric shapes throughout the decor as well.

I definitely do not regret it. Also, Krylon has a gorgeous copper spray paint for any accent pieces we need to sort-of DIY (i.e. only spray paint).

    ETA: added our inspo pic

    @AD that's beautiful! I love your ideas.

@angel D. Ya know I haven't bought a single thing off there yet? Definitely a necessity for this experience.

@fitzwilliamDarcy yes, I got some samples from wedding paper divas and Minted. Was surprised how much I liked the foil in person.(I was afraid it would scratch easy) I think rose gold foiled letters would look amazing if I keep the rest of the suite pretty neutral. Thanks!

I personally haven't had any issues finding rose gold decor. However, you're right that there's less in store options. But I do most of my shopping online anyway, so that's not a problem for me.

The biggest issue I'm coming across is making sure everything is the same shade of rose gold--not too orangey cooper and not too pink.

These are table runners I bought off Wish. I'm in love!

@Elizabeth R. That's what I was thinking. Good on you for making it work anyway!

@Ashley P great minds think alike Smiley winking

@ashleyMTL girl, sounds like you're killing the copper game! That classic penny is beautiful, I have so many accents in my house. I hope I catch photos from your wedding on here cause I'd love to see how it turns out.

Maybe I'm not discerning enough, but I think it's ok to mix similar shades. I have rose gold shoes, but regular gold napkins, and some touches of each shade throughout our decor. I'm not sure you really need everything to be perfectly matchy matchy to look coordinated.
