Body wraps....do they work?

Anyone knows if body wraps truly work? I need something to firm my arms. I’ve been lifting weights and eating lots of protein and vegetables but the arms…..not as firm as I like them to be.

Caro, instead of weights, I suggest resistance training. This helps develop lean muscles quicker.

If you're going to posts on these forums as a vendor, open a vendor account.

Don't interact with the type of idiot that gets sucked into a pyramid scheme. Just flag them.

When I first joined this site, I remember quite a few pros having issues with the "wrap" people -- all a part of a MLM/pyramid scheme -- being allowed to pose as genuine wedding vendors on the pro boards. The wrap sellers sounded a lot like Amanda -- you know, "it really works". They do not work. Go ahead -- put the company name and the word scam into your search engine. You'll see input from plenty of people who thought they had found the short cut to toned arms.

It's no surprise that Amanda is now referring to the truth as "hating" (hating is one thing -- not being a sucker is another). What else is she going to say? She sells this snake oil for a living. They do not work, and the wrap lady will never be able to prove that they do. Her pitch is no different than the diet pill gurus who have been around for years telling you that they have the secret to quick and easy weight loss. You'd have better luck paying your MUA to create muscle tone on your arms with various shades of make-up (kind of like the fake six packs that MUAs create on models for photoshoots).

Ok, so I'm obviously in the minority here but I haven't tied the really popular ones people are mentioning even though I have friends who have and swear they perform as advertised. I've tried homemade wraps (you know, the Preparation H, Nivea's Firming Lotion wrapped in plastic wrap) and I definitely saw results. You aren't really supposed to lose weight, but just firm up I guess. It's totally temporary but I'm being honest in saying there was an obvious difference after I removed it. I wouldn't pay for the others since this process does the same thing. It can't hurt, right???

There is zero science behind these wraps, they do NOT work, and I have to squint at every before/after photo I see because there is NO difference. Cutting out salt, sugar, and fat while upping water intake can lead to a less bloated stomach, but plastic wrap has absolutely nothing to do with it. Save your money. Don't buy into these crap schemes promoted by people who care more about making a buck than selling a reputable product.

I absolutely hate the wrap people! I get flyers on my car in almost every parking lot I park in, it is constantly in my facebook news feed and I did a friend a favor once and got one to help her get started and it did literally nothing. She was so excited to take pictures and everything...but nothing. That said...it bothers me to see people calling MLM companies pyramid schemes. Pyramid schemes are illegal as per the US government. There is no way a multimillion dollar company is going to get away with running a pyramid scheme without the federal govt. shutting it down. Pyramid scheme means that only the people at the very top make money and you have to keep signing up people under you to make more...meaning you make money off of what they sell. There is no MLM in exisitence where this is the case anymore. You do not directly make money off of what the people below you sell. Only the person who sells something makes a small commission and then, depending on the structure of the company, the higher ups get some kind of points or whatever that eventually lead to a bonus but only if you are also selling your own products. So in short...pyramid schemes are illegal. MLM and pyramid schemes are not the same thing.

I'm using them now. I had to buy 3 months worth to get the decent price on them. I regret it. I've only done 2 wraps and have seen no change. What a waste of money. The only way to get fit is to eat healthy and work out. I'm still so mad at myself for even giving into it.

If you are looking at toning your arms look on you tube for this lady who does an exercise program about bat wings ( it's an arm workout) I have done it a few times a week and have started to notice a difference. It does not take long but you most definitely feel it during the routine.

^ It works for the owner of the company -- he's making money hand over fist!

Alright, I'd like to set a few things straight about ItWorks.

First, let me say, I am NOT the same Amanda that was posting earlier. I am new to the site and I was drawn to this thread because of the content. This is not the first topic I have commented on but I am also not new to forums, nor new to wedding forums as this is my second wedding.

Second, I used to sell ItWorks and I will say that the wraps DO work. It takes a different number of wraps for each person to see results and each area of your body takes a different number of wraps. The pictures are not lighting tricks or varying positions of the body. You wrap until you achieve your desired results and then you will need to wrap every 4-6 months to maintain those results for that body area. Liken it to maintaining a haircut or hairstyle. You wouldn't expect to have it done once and never need to have it done again.

Third, they are more than just wraps. They have a whole line of all natural supplements and beauty creams. This is what drew me in. I had lost 95 pounds in 9 months and I wanted to maintain that loss. They have some that help with weight loss. As a bonus, while I was losing weight, I found out I have a gluten intolerance. They have one supplement that blocks the absorption of some carbs (Fat Fighters with carb inhibitors) and this allows me to have some gluten when gluten free is not available.

Fourth, as someone else said before and outlined, their structure is not a pyramid scheme.

Yes, I did say I used to sell ItWorks. I no longer sell it but I do still believe in the products. My reasons for not selling it anymore are personal and have nothing to do with the product. I have many friends who still sell the product, many healthcare providers (as am I). I also still have access to our local Facebook community/forum which is overseen by one of the top 5% earners in the company and I was in her downline.
