Bone in Chicken

We are having a very rustic elegant wedding next October and have to decide what meats we want with dinner. Being in an Amish town, we're having Thrashers dinner (think traditional Thanksgiving on crack) we get two meat choices of ham, turkey, roast beef, and bone in chicken. The chicken is AMAZING...

The chicken is AMAZING however I'm wondering what people's thoughts are about digging into a drum stick or thigh during a wedding.

We went to a wedding with a duet entrée. The chicken part of it was a connected leg and thigh, with bones and sauce. I didn't feel like I could pick it up, so I left most of it uneaten. (Besides, I don't like dark meat).

I was told that bone-in chicken is actually better for catering as it will be less likely to overdry... just a thought.. I think it's fine.

I'm doing bone in chicken for my wedding as well. I think it's a great idea!

Are we talking like two piece and a biscuit?

    Or like airline chicken?

I know this post is several years old, but I’m curious to know what you served and how it went? I’m thinking of one of my protein options being citrus herb baked bone-in chicken thighs (the other is pulled pork bbq sliders), but started getting nervous that people don’t like dark/bone-in meat.

Bone in chicken is fine when you bring KFC to a casual family reunion picnic. But people don’t like to eat messy food with their hands in formal clothes.
