book honeymoon under new last name or maiden last name?

Heather, on July 2, 2012 at 5:19 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 9

I am getting married in 5 days.. I am not going on my honeymoon until the end of Aug. I have not booked the airline tickets for the honeymoon yet.. I was wondering if i should put it under my new last name or keep it as my maiden name. I live in PA. I do not know how long it takes to change the name and i really want to have everything changed over by my honeymoon... PLEASE HELP!!!

Are you going out the country where you will need a passport? That is the biggest question. Getting a new passport can take a bit and customs could be pretty tricky to get through if your passport says your maiden name and everything else says your new name. I had my honeymoon a month after my wedding so i waited to do any name changing till after cause i did not want to deal with any of that stuff. So everything, including plane tickets, reservations at the hotel and activites, we each used our own names. Now that i am back from honeymoon i will start the name change process. UGH.

Book airline tickets under your maiden name. You're not going to have new legal ID documents by then. You might not even have a copy of your marriage certificate yet. It takes a while.

My mom told me to book it under my maiden name but i can change me name.. when i go to airport just bring my passport because it will have my maiden name still on it and just use that. Do you think that is a good idea to do????

No, stick with your maiden name for legal purposes until you change it. Bringing your passport under a maiden name with a ticket reserved with your married name might cause confusion, not to mention your DL wont even be changed yet.

As Kris said, you won't have your new documents in time. Book under your maiden name.

They may give you a hard time at the airport, use your maiden name, so all you id matches. You don't want to give them any reason to hold you up.

I'm using my maiden name but only because were leaving the next day. We're just going to disneyland so we're booking everything under FH's name such as hotel, were not flying so don't have to worry about that part

See my delema is that we are not going on our honeymoon until 48 days after the wedding. I am pretty sure that it doesn't take 48 days to get my marriage certificate and to get a new drivers license.

Even if it's in your maiden name, you have the legal marriage license to verify you married and changed your name regardless.

It's the same thing when you needed your birth certificate to travel to Mexico. My mom needed her marriage license too in order to enter cause her maiden name is on the birth certificate. Smiley smile
