BORRBY Lanterns- Which size??

P2BE, on January 28, 2016 at 12:31 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 12

Hello all. I would like to use these lanterns for my centerpieces but am unsure which size would be best? They have 11 inch ones and 17 inch ones (height). At first I thought the 17 inch ones might be too big but now I'm not sure. My tables are 60" round and seat 10 people at them. Exact dimensions are for the smaller ones: Length: 6 " Width: 6 " Height: 11 ". The larger ones: Length: 9 ½ "Width: 9 ½ "Height: 17 ¼ " What do you guys think?

I got the 11" and I feel that they are plenty big enough, especially if you put something around them, like the candles shown in the picture. If you do end up putting 10 people at your table, the bigger lantern would overpower it I feel because it will be tight as it is.

@Kaylie- that's what I was thinking because I am planning on putting things around the lantern (candles and small vases)

I'm using two 11" white lanterns as my centerpieces. I thought they were a little small to just have one. And the 11" included the handle that lays flat, so they are more like 10 inches. Maybe get one of each before you buy all of them to see what you like best.

You could find a box that is 11" and one that's 17" and compare which height you like best.

11" is a standard piece of letter paper if that helps you visualize height also.

Are you going to be able to actually go to IKEA and see the lanterns or are you ordering online? Seeing them in person helps a lot. They seemed bigger to me than I anticipated when I actually saw them.

I'm using the 11" ones! I painted them with chalk paint and antique wax to go with the rustic theme and I think they'll be a great height, short enough so people can talk to each other without having to talk around the lantern Smiley smile

I think the small ones are large enough. I was going to go with them but decided to go a different route so I did not need as big. I still love them though

I am an event coordinator and I just noticed that you are putting 10 people at a 60" round table? Was this recommended by your facility? I would never dare to tell someone to put 10 people at that table. It would be way too tight. 72" round is usually for 8-10 people, 60" is for 6-8 people to sit comfortably. If you can, ask them to set up 1 table for you. It will help you visualize it better. I think the 11" lantern would work well with the 60" tables
