Both Parents Walking Me Down Aisle

Victoria, on March 11, 2021 at 11:50 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 1 26

Hi,

Has any bride ever had both parents walk them down the aisle? I very much want my dad to walk me down, but my mom is one of my best friends and I thought about having her walk with us as well. When I expressed this to my mom she said she was honored, but she was worried that our photographer wouldn't be able to get good pictures of my dress while I was walking having my parents on both sides. Has anyone had this experience or have any advice for me?

Thank you!

Both my parents walked me down. It's a Jewish tradition, btw. Here's a pic of my dress while they're doing so. I think my bouquet ruined it more than them:

I did this and they are my very favorite pictures. There will be plenty of great pictures of your dress throughout the day— take advantage of this opportunity for special pictures with these very special people!

Hah, I just looked back at my photos too, and I’m with you— there was no chance at a great walking down the aisle photo of my dress bc my bouquet was right in the middle of everything! Still wonderful photos of huge smiles though!

I've been to weddings where both parents walked the bride down the aisle so it's actually a lot more common than you think! Smiley smile So, go for it!

My cousin had both her step dad and dad walk her down the wedding. The photos came out great and her dress looked beautiful

I agree this is a pretty common thing (and, as Julie mentioned, is a standard for Jewish weddings). If you want this (and I think it's a lovely idea) I would absolutely not let a worry about photos of your dress stop you. You will have many photos of your dress from the day, but no single photo could be more important that walking down that aisle with the people you want to walk with.

I am also planning on having both of my parents walk down the aisle with me. I love both my parents and I hate the idea of not honoring them both during that moment - especially considering the amount of work my mom has put in to make my wedding possible. I'm sure, as other people have said, that those photos will be greatly cherished and your photographer will be able to get plenty of pictures of your dress ☺️

Yes, both of my parents walked me down the aisle (Jewish tradition). The photographer had no problem getting good photos.

I think this is such a cute idea! I don’t think it should get in the way of pictures of your dress, and if it did it’s not like you wouldn’t have hundreds of other pictures to show it off even if it did. I think you should go for it
