Boudoir photos

Davida, on February 16, 2021 at 10:15 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 11
I have been on the fence about whether or not I wanted to surprise my fiance with boudoir photos. On one hand I like the idea of a sexy throwback that he can look at for years to come. On the other hand I wonder if it would be a wasted expense that I could have used for something more useful. I've heard that these photos can cost hundreds of dollars. So brides who have done boudoir shoots in the past, was it worth it and would you recommend doing it? Did your husband look at it a few times and then shove it in a drawer to never be seen again?

I say do it. Even if it’s for you and not him. I know at this point I will never look better! One day when I’m old, I think it be amazing to look back and remember how I looked.

If you can get a good deal than I say go for it. If not don’t waste your money. I got a Groupon for one that came with 2 photos and I bought 5 more. My husband put one in his gun safe and the rest are in a box in his closet. I don’t think he’s opened since the wedding.

I agree with this. I don’t think the pics will ever get looked at again (even less than wedding photos). So, for that reason, it’s definitely a waste for me. Boudoir pics became a big thing in the early 2000s and (to this day) I still don’t see the point of them. But maybe that’s because I’m the type to show/give him the real thing instead of a pic. Lol!!!

I did them and loved it. It was a sexy gift and he did a boudoir shoot for me too. We plan on doing one together in the near future. For us, it was included in our package with the photographer so we did it. Def a confidence booster for me. He hasn't looked at it since the wedding, but did love the gift.

I know of people that have done them, and regret the amount of money they spent. Their husbands looked at the photo book once or twice, then that was it. One of our friends said he didn't see a point in looking at them when he has his wife right there in person lol. It was a nice gesture, and he loved the photos, but not much use got out of it after the wedding. I'm personally not doing it because they make me uncomfortable, and I find it to be a cringe worthy gift. But my FH also doesn't like them, so that made my decision even easier lol. I'm getting my FH a new golf club because I know he'll actually use that often.

If you can get a good price on it, and you think those photos will get looked at more than once or twice before going in a drawer, then go for it.

Not sure if you have this type of friendship with any of your bridesmaids but a couple of mine have offered to actually take some of me with their nice camera so that we can have the pictures without spending hundreds or thousands on them. Obviously they won’t be the same quality as professional boudoir photos, but they can still be sexy and still be a great gift. It’s obviously only whatever you’re comfortable with though

So I did two different boudoir shoots because honestly I love the way they make me feel. The first one I paid for, the second one was complimentary with my wedding photographer. I printed them off and put them in a photo album for my husband, he looked at them once or twice and yes they are in a drawer, but at least he can look at them if he likes. I also have all of the photos saved on my phone, so I can text him a sexy photo occasionally just to spice things up. (That's just what I like to do though) So for my opinion, if it isn't overly expensive, I would recommend it just to boost your own ego/self-esteem (cause it did for me).

So I definitely planned on doing this and honestly still might, but I had gotten a really great deal on a boudoir session & just planned on taking the two free photos & going, but honestly they were all so amazing I ended up paying the money for 20 pictures. It may seem super expensive but it’s truly so worth it. I actually took my boudoir pictures last week & I thought it was the most empowering experience. I felt so much more confident afterwards and now I can’t wait for my pictures to come in. I was totally on the fence but I don’t regret it at all! Even the experience itself was worth it
