Boudoir Pics

Megan, on April 12, 2019 at 2:52 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 23

So I did my boudoir session almost 2 weeks ago and got my photos back last weekend. I got back 119 images and there are like maybe 10 I like Smiley sad ---a lot of them I don't like because of my facial expression...some of them being the pose I was put in just looks awkward. I've reached out to my photographer and asked to do a reshoot (that I would pay for) It's not particularly her fault I just wish she would have told me how awkward I looked so I could have tried to fix it then lol. I guess I'll just go more prepared with pose ideas and practice facial expressions.

Sorry to hear that! I had 25 out of 60 I liked but then when I started making my book I ended up ordering only 18.

Sorry to hear. I do think photographer should not charge you full fair for the reshoot, because if the poses she put you in look awkward, that’s part of her job. She is behind the camera & she is the artist, after all.

If it helps for the future, any time I do a photo shoot, I always ask photographer to see the photos after every “set”. We quickly scroll through their camera together, so that I can make sure I’m happy with poses, angles & with how everything looks.

I know I wish I would of asked to see some of the pictures but I did't want her to think I was being rude.

No, please don’t think that! Nothing rude about asking to see your own photos for which you are paying 🙂 I’ve been on so many photoshoots as the one being photographed & also as the one working & I have many friends who are photographers. Never was this considered rude by any of them. So really, don’t worry about it.

I'm so sorry to hear that! Did you plan on purchasing more than 10 of the prints? Or are you wanting more digitals? Maybe tell her this time around, you just want more of you laughing and not so serious.

That happened with our engagement shoot. Our photographer made us feel uncomfortable and it literally shows in our pics. We have 5-6 good pics and she took over 300. I hope your shoot goes well. I've cancelled mine, health issue, but will squeeze in a mini one on my wedding morning. New photographer. 😉 Hopefully, I'm not too stressed and look awkward. Wedding day not ideal, but at least I'll have a few. If you have any tips, I'm listening. I'll surprise my hubby for our 1 month anniversary. Photos will be taken in the bridal suite where we will spend our wedding night. So also special. Good luck!!

Yes I planned to make an album. Totally what I want to do is get more smiling/laughing vs being so serious. Also the majority of the poses I like are the ones where I am laying down and looking at the camera vs looking up at something nonexistent.

So my tips would be to not stress about being half naked in front of photographer...I was stressed about that but then when it came down to it, it was no big deal and it was more stressful to have that non smiling sexy/sultry face without having the RBF Face if you know what I mean lol. I would for sure practice the faces you will make in the mirror. Whatever pose you are put in I would also do a serious face and a smiling face with the same pose. Also, find a few poses that you think would be flattering so that you may have an idea of how /where to move your body vs being told what to do every step of the way.

I'm sorry this happened! I feel like it's kinda her job as your photographer to make sure you don't look awkward in the poses she puts you in. Good luck, I hope she gives you a discounted or free reshoot so you are more happy with the results!

I would actually agree that she should AT LEAST give you a discount! Making sure you look great is part of the job!

Can I ask you guys how much you paid for your shoots? The one photographer near me that I really want to go to charges $295 for "the experience" so that includes the photo session in her studio with hair and makeup. Then you buy the photos separate... like $500 separate for 5 digital images being the cheapest option.

Mine is going to be $600 for the full experience and I will print the photos elsewhere. Other places I have looked into near me are $1000 or more.... it's a crazy amount of money. I'm still borderline on it, just because I need to cough up the extra change in addition to all the wedding stuff!

Who did you end up going with? I picked a photog in Dayton but I'm still unsure because I don't know anyone personally who has ever done these photos.

I would pay the $300 if I got digital images with it but unfortunately she charges extra for the images her prices are insane! It would be a total of $800 for only 5 digital images... that seems insane to me lol im just gonna wait for a promo I think.

Yeah all of the ones I see in that price range don't include copies of the images. Or they require you to spend a certain amount in printing. There's one lady in my area that does mini's for this price but it's only like 15 pictures that she takes and it doesn't include hair or make-up

I paid $200 for a 30 minute session and I got back approximately 100 pictures with all the digital rights. She advertises a 30 minute session as a mini session and you get back 50-75 images, or a 60 minute session for $350. If anyone is interested in seeing a couple of my pictures I don't mind sending them via email. I saw someone mention Dayton, so if you mean Dayton, OH, I am from Troy (20 minutes North) so depending how far you wanted to go, the photographer I used would be in your area!
