Boudoir Shoot

Jess D, on October 29, 2014 at 3:35 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 16

I saw a post about it but I have questions about it.

I'm self conscious (i know shouldnt) but I dont like people seeing my half nude.

I want to get this done, and could probably do it myself (as I am a photographer)

BUT i want to know how you ladies feel about it/how you are going about it

I know they arent naked photos but suggestive,

I think I would feel more comfortable if a female did it, instead of a male (thats what I'm worried about)

So how do you go about that?

My wedding photographer did mine. I had a friend at my house with me. It was weird at first, but kind of funny too...

Many boudoir photographers are female. Shop around and meet with a few. Find someone your comfortable with. I had mine done by the wife of the photography duo that did our e-pics so I had worked with her before. It's not awkward or uncomfortable, especially once you get into it. It's just fun. But get at least your makeup professionally done, hair too if you can afford it. Make a day of it.

Our wedding photographer also is the main photographer at a Boudoir studio. I have been very comfortable with her from the beginning. When we talk, it's like we've been friends for years. So that makes it easier. I'm one of those people who can't change in front of anyone else, even family members. So I can't be in my bra or underwear around other people. When I rarely wear a bathing suit, I wear a tankini and a skort to cover everything. But think of it this way: a bra and underwear is basically a bathing suit. And they are professionals. You aren't the first person they have seen in their underwear. They are used to making uncomfortable people comfortable. Plus, they don't all have to be nearly nude. I've seen many that show the girl being playful and holding up the covers, in a robe or FH's favorite team jersey. Things like that.

I would find a female photographer if you're going to do them. I was planning to do the same, as I found one on Groupon who actually has slightly explicit photos in her gallery, but now I've decided to skip the expense and just do them myself with my friend's DSLR camera. I'd be more comfortable by myself and I can take as many photos that I want without anyone but me and DH seeing them, which is what we'd both prefer.

My wedding photographer did mine. I'm not a huge fan of people seeing me half-naked, either, but she was very professional about it, and I didn't feel uncomfortable at all. She was completely indifferent to the fact that I was in my gutchies the entire time, lol. I just reminded myself that she has done this countless times before, and I acted like I was doing a normal photo shoot. If you treat it like business and your photographer treats it like business, then that's all it is-- business. I suggest finding a photographer that's seasoned at doing boudoir shoots so she's not awkward about it.

I did a boudoir shoot for FH for his birthday last year. I'm lucky that one of my really good friends is a photographer so she took them for me. It really wasn't bad. I would definitely say to make sure you do them with someone you feel comfortable with.

I was debating whether or not to do this. One of my good friends just got into photography. She takes amazing pictures so I might ask her to help me out. I've known her since kindergarten so I am very comfortable around her.

If you plan to go with a professional photographer I would feel more comfortable with a female in my opinion. good luck

It's their job, if you hire a qualified one....My boudoir and nude site is

www.farrellgallery.com and have worked with so many, I really don't "see them naked or half naked"...I have a job to do and I've photographed hundreds. Your body is no different than the last girl I photographed....and yes I am a male. Never understood why it matters what gender the photographer is. Understanding of mood, composition, lighting, angles, and overall professional conduct is all that should matter.

The goal is to create that intimacy that is intended for your spouse or significant other...and although female perspectives offer benefits too....a man understands what another man likes. It's their job to bring that out. No reputable boudoir photographer even cares about seeing your body.

I think I am going to do them, what other time in your life will you look better and have such a great excuse?? haha. It might be a little awkward at first but if it is a photographer that specializes in boudoir photography, they will know exactly how to put you at ease and how to pose you to make you look your best! If you would be uncomfortable with a male photographer (I think I would be too)....easy, hire a female photographer!!

Thanks! I just don't get what gender would matter if the photographer is worth his or her salt. Same with doctors....I go for a physical, the doctor is going to see my dong and give me the squiggly test...it's gonna suck either way but if the doctor is qualified, I don't care what he or she is, green or purple, etc, LOL.
