Bought a dress wedding was nearly cancelled now everything’s changed.

Celina, on July 6, 2021 at 11:22 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13
Long story short my Fiancé and are still getting married but we hit a real low and now neither of us are really excited about planning a big wedding. It wasn’t going to be big to begin with but I bought a dress and now it’s just not want I want. Our whole vision has changed. I got it at the beginning of the year so I can’t return it or exchange it. Has anyone ran into this? Any advice on what I can do. The dress is beautiful but it’s not what I want for my big day anymore.

You could try to sell on Facebook or another online site. You won’t get what you paid but you’ll still be able to get something back.

Agree with PP. Post on Facebook and websites like still white. You’ll get some money back at least.

That’s what I was thinking. I was going to put it on EBay because I don’t have FB or anything. Now it’s asking for shipping cost and idk what I do for that.

Basically put down a number on how much it would cost to ship.

Are there any redeeming qualities to the dress? Is it possible at all to have a seamstress reimagine it for you? I ask because you’ll lose a lot of money selling it and if it’s a well made dress, maybe you can create something new out of it? It will still be costly but definitely less than buying and tailoring a new dress. Do you have photos you can share?

I love the dress it’s perfect but with not being excited about planning it’s hard to imagine it you know. The only think I would change is maybe pulling the neck line up or closing the back a bit because of my unfinished tattoo

You can sell on Facebook, they have a group called wedding dress resale. And poshmark is a good one.

So pretty! I definitely understand it being hard to look at when the rest isn’t as you imagined. I think your suggestions about covering the back would be great! You could also bring the lace up a bit to the shoulders and do a deep v neckline. You can always even make it shorter! Or put some of the tulle around the waist. Try browsing dresses again and see if any that you like have some overlap with your current one. You look great!

I was even thinking of bringing the whole neckline up this far so that way it’s open but it’s higher on the back

If it's perfect, then what exactly do you want changed..? What's your new vision?

There are so many brides who second guess their dress choice, only to try it on again and then fall in love with it all over. Maybe bring it with you when you go dress shopping again, so you can compare it in store to other dresses? You might be surprised at your reaction.

Now I'm feeling like i should have something more simple. We've had a rough year and the planning is feeling more of a hassle then exciting. Were keeping our venue for the ceremony but we are planning to have the reception somewhere else so I don't want my fancy dress to be worn for a few hours and then that's it. I am really thinking of just having the neckline raised to become an illusion neckline so my back is closed
