Bouquet Holding with Dress?

Alexia, on April 5, 2021 at 3:41 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 1 10
So my dress is a touch too long in front but it’s too late now to get it fixed, I was wondering how to hold my dress up, my bouquet, and my dads arm all while walking down the aisle?

I don't think you can. Is there no way for you to have the length altered? That typically only takes a couple of days to complete. I recommend getting that fixed. Otherwise, it will not only be difficult, but also look odd with you holding up your dress all day/night.

I really don’t think there’s any way, unless you wear higher heels. Maybe like platform wedges if you don’t do well in heels because those are very easy to walk in and they’ll give you the height that you might need. Is your dress super long? Have you tried it with heels yet?

Hi Alexia! Can you balance your dress in one hand and your bouquet in the other??

Then your dad can just gently loop his arm through yours!

Ask the seamstress to shorten it which should not be that big a deal.

I would definitely get it shortened.

I had to walk up a few steps. My husband was holding my hand and in the other hand I had my bouquet, so no free hand to hold my dress. It didn't work and I had to give him my bouquet to be able to get up the stairs without tripping over my dress (and I wore flats).
To walk down the aisle in a dress that's too long and be in it the whole day seems awkward. Depending on the style of your dress it's not easy to walk in anyways.

Another solution could be to get higher heels.

Another option could be to put some extra tulle or a petticoat under the skirt to lift it slightly? If you can't have the dress hemmed a bit more this might work as another option?

It’s only a tiny bit long. I’ll bring my wedges too to see if that helps

Use a wrist loop to hold the bottom hem of the dress. Any piece of similar colored cord will work sew it to the seam allowance in the skirt - then loop your wrist through and put the bouquet in the same hand.
This is what we did last min at my cousin's wedding when her gown was too long. Took about 5 mins to hand sew it into the seam really well ( she had one of those giant cinderella ballgowns with 6 layers ). Made it so much easier for her, she was tripping all over herself while trying to get ready.
