Bouquet preservation

Kelly, on June 8, 2022 at 3:57 PM Posted in Style and Décor 1 6
Does anyone know much about preserving the bouquet to get it pressed? I don’t think I’ll be able to take them home since I am doing a destination wedding and I can’t find a location where I’m staying to do this. Looking for more information. Getting married in Puerto Rico. Photos attach for inspo (these are made with the bride’s bouquet after the wedding).Bouquet preservation 1

I live in Memphis, and I am having this company preserve my flowers. They say they can have flowers shipped to them anywhere via UPS and I see there are UPS stores in Puerto Rico. So, it might be worth checking out her work and seeing if you like it.

Facebook has the most examples of her work: https://www.facebook.com/FlowersForeverInc

    Here is the website: https://www.flowersforeverinc.com/

Under the FAQ is where it talks about the UPS shipping: https://www.flowersforeverinc.com/faq

Check to see if there's a post office, UPS, or FedEx near where you'll be, then see what steps you'd need to take to ensure your bouquet would be able to ship properly and quickly. From there, I'd reach out to shops on Etsy that do preservations or someplace near where you live to see if they have any specific requirements.

Also, make sure you list your actual address as the return address so it doesn't go back to Puerto Rico if there's an issue. Better to have your bouquet and figure out a backup plan than lose it!

I booked Designs by Andrea (@dbandrea on Instagram) for multiple pieces, including a framed pressed piece (I believe the photo you shared is an example of her work). Her team provided packing instructions (which included a how-to video). She’s based in TX and I mailed my bouquet from KS, a few days after my wedding, and it arrived safely. It’s currently in the preservation process, but I hope to have my final pieces later this summer.

Yes! This is who has inspired me! Her work is absolutely amazing! I messaged her and she had me question the customs part of sending my bouquet! She is quite pricey, so I am being extra careful with things.

I looked at a lot of companies, and found her preservation process of darker flowers (she has a color correction process) allows them to look more lifelike / closer to the original bouquet than others. Many darker flowers looked black in examples I found by other companies. Our colors were Marsala and Blush, so my bouquet had a lot of burgundy flowers. To help offers the cost, we added a cash fund (“Bridal Bouquet Preservation Fund”) to our wedding registry.

But, regardless of which company you choose, here’s how I packed my bouquet: (1) keep bouquet in water as much as possible before/after ceremony (I had an extra vase on our cake table for it), (2) trim stems and wrap them in wet paper towels, (3) place a plastic bag around the stems and tie with rubber bands, (4) place them stems in a plastic cup, (5) tape a small, open box inside a larger, open box, (6) place the bouquet’s stems/plastic cup in the small box, (7) pack dry paper towels in the gaps/around the bouquet/over the bouquet, (8) place contact info/invoice in plastic bag, taped to inside of the box lid, (9) tape box and label each side as fragile/this side up, and 10) mail the next business day, typically UPS next day is recommended.
