Bouquet stem length?

My mom is making all of the bouquets for our wedding! I'm just wondering if there's any guidelines as to how long the stems should be?

I think it really depends on the bouq. For example if you are only doing 1-2 stems it would probably be best if they were all long stemmed. However, if they are large bouq I would trim them down a little.
