Bouquet Vases for the Head Table

HoundMama, on May 10, 2012 at 5:30 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 9

I've always likes the concept where wedding parties had vases on the head table and the BMs and Bride put their bouquets in them during dinner as decor for the table. Did anybody here do that and if so, how did you go about selecting the right size vase for that? Did you have a mock up of your bouquet and use that to gauge the size needed, or are there just some vases that work better than others?

Thanks!

    Eric & Rachelle J.....

They have lovely vases at the DollarTree that pretty much fit most standard bouquet sizes.

I think a taller, skinnier vase would work for just about any bouquet. You just fill the water enough to cover the ends of the stems, even if they don't hit the bottom of the vase. and keep in mind you can't have the ribbon all the way to the bottom.

I'm doing this, I love reusing decor elements where ever possible! I'm using a wider vase for the flowers, but I showed my vases to my florist to make sure they made sense for the size of the bouquet stems. I would say hold your two hands like you'd hold a bouquet and make sure the vase is at least as wide as that =). But if you are making your own bouquet from fake flowers you could just wait to buy the vases until the bouquets are done, or talk to your florist if you are having someone else make them.

We had a vase at our sweetheart table for my bouquet. It was something that our florist included in our proposal.

Mrs.Ohler, Cate's florist does that too. I was surprised. SHe does it for the BM bouquets as well.

I kind of think the bouquets look better on the side, as it gives a more floral effect, but I suppose they need to stay fresh somehow.

I am doing this. I am going to etch the names of my BM and MOH into the glass and have marbles in the bottom.

Check with your florist, they might include vases (not all do, however). I normally deliver all bouquets in vases of water. Hand tied bouquets must be in water unless you are having a photograph taken or walking down the aisle!!
