Hi Ladies, So are boutonnieres and corsages really necessary for a wedding? I was getting boutonnieres for the groom, groomsmen and fathers. I was going to get corsages for the mothers. Now I am thinking if they are necessary. Thoughts? What are you ladies doing?

We are only doing boutonnière for my fiancé we don’t see a reason in wasting money on flowers the groomsmen don’t care about and their jackets come off as soon as they can. I wish I could skip the corsages also because I hate them but I think both of our mothers will be really upset so there for our fathers will probably have boutonnières also.

We're doing corsages for our moms and my grandmother, but the groom and groomsmen have pocket squares. I might ask my dad if he wants a bout? And if he does, we'll get one all our dads, but he'll probably pass. Flowers are just not a big deal for our families

Officiant/Grooms brother and my handsome husband.Boutonnieres and Corsages - Necessity or Nah! 1

Nothing is necessary, it's a matter of what you want. I think a well done boutonniere gives an extra special look. As long as you avoid roses with baby's breath, it won't look like a prom. All of our parents have passed but I did ask my sister to walk me down the aisle and I wanted something for her. I got her a corsage but asked the florist to make it look modern - no baby's breath, roses, and definitely no bows. It really looked gorgeous, but again, not necessary.

I wasn't going to until my mom wrote us a nice sized check unexpectedly to pay for catering. So I found room in our budget to do something nice for her and my FMIL. Its something little, but I think they will really enjoy it. I think its just your preference.

I’ve never been a fan of corsages personally but I asked the Mother’s wnd they both said they weren’t a fan either. I ended up doing a mini bouquet for them that could be used at the reception for decoration after the ceremony. It was actually FMILs idea so they felt included but didn’t need to wear or pin something to their dress Smiley smile

I don't really think that you have to have them, but we are doing them. I just like the look of it.

Definitely not necessary, more of preference. We are skipping corsages as neither of the mothers like them either. We are doing boutonnieres for the groom, groomsmen, and fathers but requested that they not be big flowers (roses, lilies, etc) but instead smaller pieces of the bouquets to try to cut down on the prom vibe.

All of my groomsmen, my fiance, my ring bear, my Usher, Father of the Bride, and father of the groom all have boutonnieres. I'm doing a rustic wedding and got mine from Hobby Lobby. I am getting a wrist corsage for my mother, my fiance's mother, and both of my grandmothers. My fiance's grandmother's have passed away.

We're not doing them. They remind me of prom.

I'm just doing corsages for mothers and bouts for fathers. I decided not to extend it out to grandparents.

Not doing corsages for my mom, fiance's mom, and grandmother. My florist said that most people don't care for them, plus they wouldn't fit in my budget, so that ultimately decided (lol).

We're doing bouts for the males in the bridal party, my fiance, ring bearer, dads, & our friend who's the officiant (8 people).

I definitely think that bouts dress up a suit, but I think that corsages so unnoticed.
