BR: General question for the experienced (some TMI)

Jillian, on June 14, 2011 at 2:32 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 21

FH & I will be TTC after the wedding, so I stopped my BC on 5/13. I got some withdrawl bleeding for a few days, then it stopped. On 5/24, I think I got my period that lasted for 4 days. I went to the MD on 6/9 b/c I was having some cramping on my lower right side of my abdomen. He said I was about to ovulate, which would put me around day 16 or 17, so I've marked that down. My question is that the pain has gotten a little better, but now I feel like I'm just bloated a bit and when I press where my uterus and right ovary would be I get some cramps which feel like gas (but it's not). FH and I have used both condoms and the "pull out" method, since me stopping my BC. We've been intimate at least 4 times between 6/4 and 6/12, which means that was during my fertile time frame.

Now, for my question (finally)-could this be the beginning of a possible pregnancy with all the minor cramping and bloatness I'm feeling. I've got no other symptoms like sore boobs, implantation bleeding (yet),etc

Just a bit confused. I know if I was pregnant it would only be a week or two, but I'm not sure how that goes since I've never been pregnant. Any insight? I'm due for my period on 6/21, so I know it's too early to test right now.

LOL oh boy pull out method :p that got me pregnant. I was really shocked because I thought he didn't get his juices in me, but let just say that a little of his can get me pregnant lol. I got conceived three days before my period was due and I had my period. I hope you feel better soon.

You can get take a test that has five days result before the period. I found out pregnancy like two days before my period was due in April, I was 3 weeks pregnant.

I'm just curious - did you mean you were using condoms and the "pull out" method simultaneously or a mix or both? The first method is actually extremely efficient and keeping you from getting pregnant. That's what FH and I used for about two years, so if you were using both together, I doubt you're pregnant just based on that alone. If it's the mix...well, then you could definitely be pregnant!

Frankly, your own body wouldn't even know it's pregnant this soon. It takes 2-5 days for the fertilized egg to implant. I think it's just your hormones going nuts getting off the birth control. It happens, and it's normal. It just sucks...

Many women have hyperactive ovaries (especially coming right off birth control). Basically, very small ovarian cysts form and rupture when you are ovulating. For some women, ovulating can be very painful- but not dangerous.

I'd make sure you are using a condom all the time, or get a diaphragm or something. Just so you know- the 'pull out' method is obviously one of the most failed methods of birth control. Pre-cum has sperm in it, and it leaks during the *cough, cough* process. By the time he pulls out, you could already have sperm inside of you. Please, choose a method that's more reliable!

I have two kids and did not experience implantation bleeding with either of them so don't go around waiting for that to happen because some woman don't experience that at all.

Also, sore boobs doesn't really mean you are pregnant as sometimes my boobs get sensitive and sore before I start my period. (up to 2 weeks before sometimes)

Don't recall any bloating for me either. The two things that happened first when I got pregnant was 1. No period and 2. Morning Sickness then I would take a test and find out. In fact, I think I didn't even find out I was pregnant with my son till I was already 6-8 weeks pregnant as I had no reason to take a test and my daughter was even longer before I said "hey... I need to take a test"....

Cramping and bloating could just be that you are off the pill so your body is preparing for it's first real period since you've been off the pill.

We're using a combination of both condoms or pulling out. I know that there is a slight chance of getting pregnant with the pull out method. I'd be happy if I was pregnant, so we're not necessarily being super careful. I just wanted to get some feedback on the minor cramping and bloating I'm feeling. It's just odd because that's never happened to me. I don't even truly know my cycle because I just got off BC a month ago. I think my "true" period was on 5/24, but who knows. I did get confirmation from the doctor, though, that I was "preparing to release a follicle" (sounds so odd) on 6/9. I'm assuming that if I don't get my period by the 3rd week of this month, then I'll test. It's just odd how coming off BC makes your body go nutso...

I stopped BC in November...and lots of unusual things happen every month. They are starting to taper off now (finally) But in the beginning, I would start, say on Monday, stop Wed (all spotting) and then really get it Saturday- for a full week! I got lots of cramping during ovulation, etc Crazy to see what your body really goes through w/o all those extra hormones.

You've only been off BC for a month. It took me a few months (like, 5-6) before my period was normal. It doesn't hurt to have a pregnancy test around to ease your mind, but to me (not a doctor!) this sounds like your body adjusting to a major hormone change. (I mean the lack of birth control pills, not pregnancy, but...both are hormone changes that could cause some new symptoms.) Remember, it has thought it was pregnant for as long as you've been taking the pill, and now suddenly it's not for the first time and the first cycle in (guessing) years.

Pull out method is baby roulette.

It's "effective" when you're not fertile. Heck, bare backing it is "effective" when you're not fertile!

Pull 'n Pray is NOT an effective mode of birth control. According to Planned Parenthood, 27 out of 100 couples who use it will get pregnant that year: http://www.plannedparenthood.org/health-topics/birth-control/withdrawal-pull-out-method-4218.htm

That's lower than condoms, the Pill, etc etc etc. Essentially, withdrawal is up there with "My man drinks lots of Mountain Dew and I've heard that lowers sperm counts!" (That one went 'round my high school once or twice...we had a lot of pregnant girls at my high school.)

So, I would recommend getting back on the Pill or using a condom every time you have sex, until you are certain you are ready to conceive.

Im just sayin thats my situation. I was stupid and young clearly i got prego with out trying twice not being on BC but then again every time i got pregnant it was because pulling out didnt happen My favorite phrase "what do you call ppl that use the pull out method?.....Parents"

are they serious (gotten from that link)

    Withdrawal at a Glance

Withdrawal is also called coitus interruptus or the "pull out method"

Something you can do during vaginal intercourse to prevent pregnancy

    Safe, easy, and convenient
