Breakfast for dinner reception

Lindsey , on February 9, 2019 at 8:56 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 27
We are getting married at a normal time 4:30 or 5pm and are thinking of having a breakfast for dinner reception. Breakfast is our favorite meal and we personally do breakfast for dinner all the time. We are getting mixed reviews... thoughts?

As long as there are lots of options, I saw go for it! I was told the food needs to be about the guests not just you two but if it’s done right I think it would great!

My friend did this! I thought It was so great. She even did a doughnut cake! I agree with the PP. You need a variety of food in order to please everyone. If you don’t want to fully commit to the breakfast meals for your guests you could offer a breakfast themed Hor devours! Or brunch themed food so it’s little more tame than just breakfast.

As long as there is enough food: omelette station, fried chicken & waffles, bacon/sausage, etc. If just carbs (muffins, pancakes), bacon & eggs, I would NOT be happy as a guest.

We went to a breakfast for dinner wedding and i got suuuuper drunk on vodka sodas because scrambled eggs don’t have the same effect as chicken/potatoes. We got fast food on the way home because we were starving.

Also, if you’re dead set on breakfast for dinner, serve breakfast drinks too.

((Or serve breakfast food as a late night snack. Mini breakfast burritos, waffle sticks/French toast sticks and syrup, chicken and waffles served in paper cones, etc))

I think it’s such a fun idea! Definitely make sure you have enough variety that everyone will be full. Breakfast for dinner is always good. Don’t think you can go wrong!

As long as there is enough of a variety and choices, I definitely recommend it. I love breakfast too.

Go for it as long as there is a good variety of proteins. If it’s just sugary carbs I would not be happy. Bacon and a make your own breakfast burrito station or something and I’d be in heaven

I love breakfast food. As others have said make sure there is a good variety. You also can't go wrong with a coffee bar and a mimosa bar.

I think it is a great idea as long as there are a variety of options. Breakfast is one of those types of meals that some people don't care for much but if you have a variety of options they will enjoy it. An idea is a biscuit bar with different jams, jellies, preserves and butter. Muffins and other baked items would be nice. I think fruit, orange juice or other fruit drinks would also be a nice touch. If kids will be at your wedding milk would be great and a lot of adults would love it especially if you have chocolate milk. I would have some sort of starch like hashbrowns and a variety of meats as well as eggs. For eggs I think your best bet would be scrambled especially if your doing a buffet because they won't get rubbery extremely fast on the hot bar like other types will. If you want pancakes or waffles you could do a station were guests could choose from different toppings like whipped cream, butter, strawberries, chocolate chips, honey, and maple syrup to name a few. If I went to a wedding that had breakfast at the reception I would personally be thrilled if there was an omelette station, bacon, sausage, and fruit. I would offer a mix of items that offer choices of carb heavy and light low carb options that way everyone's not overloading on sugar and heavy foods which is so easy to do at breakfast and can result in feeling not so great. If your having alcohol you could do mimosas. There's so much you could do with this and if done right it will be amazing.

I am another devoted breakfast lover— everything from doughnuts and greasy spoon hash browns and eggs to fancy-brunch stuff. I’ll just add in another food suggestion: quiches. I love quiches. They can be great hor d'oeuvres or main dishes, do well at various temperatures, and I think they make for an elegant savory option. Stratas are also nice, or frittatas is you’re trying to offer low carb options. But honestly, I have the unpopular opinion that I’d be just as happy with a cup of tea and a couple of doughnuts. 🍩🍩🍩

Is there a reason you can’t just have a morning wedding and serve breakfast?

Lol. This is a good question!

I’d love to attend a Sunday brunch and a Sunday morning wedding is usually a lot less than a Fri/Sat night.

    Sounds cool!
Please make sure you have a few NON DAIRY options of pancakes/waffles and milk for cereal and drink!
