Breast Reduction

He keeps asking me if I've found my "dress" yet. Well here's the problem... I'm waiting on my insurance company to tell me if they will cover a breast reduction. Hopefully it will be deemed "medically necessary" and not "cosmetic". Trust me... going from a 40H to anything "human sized" is NOT cosmetic. I personally think I should wait and see if they do before I even bother looking for a seamstress. There's no way I could be fitted for 40H and then have it altered down to a 40D. That's 4 whole cup sizes. It wouldn't look right at all. If they do cover the reduction, I think I should wait until after the surgery to actually go buy anything. What do you guys think?

I LOVE that your dad is going to buy your dress/pantsuit for you...so sweet!! I can't speak much to this because I'm not at all well-endowed (womp womp), but I agree with others that it might take a very long time for it to get approved by your insurance company. Have you talked to any seamstresses to get an idea of how long they need to make the outfit? That might help you set a deadline for yourself (so if they need 6 months, you know you'll have until November to wait, have the surgery, and heal a bit).

Is your future wife wearing a traditional dress? I'm excited to see how both your white outfits will look together. Smiley smile

I say 'look, but don't buy'. It sound like you want something very specific so you should be looking for it. However, until you know if your having your surgery or not don't purchase. In some cases the darn alterations cost more than what you paid for the outfit!

Hey everyone. Sorry.. I was off for a couple of days.

I've already talked with my dad about wanting to talk to the surgeon first. I tried to explain to him that I wanted to wait to see if the surgery was a "go" so that I could get something made just once with a small amount of alterations. If I get something now, and then have the surgery, it won't fit at all up top.

@Cabell-- I think it's nice, too, that he's getting my outfit. I think it's AMAZING that he's already paid for Lea's dress and whole outfit (the dress, tiara, necklace, veil, etc.)since he knows that her family isn't supporting us in this. Smiley sad

@jlacy1987-- I've already talked to the surgeon, and they won't have to detatch the nipple. They'll do what they call a "keyhole" where they make an area where they want the nipple to go and basically cut around the areola to make it the new/better size and then slide it up into the new location and sew it into place. There's only a 12% chance of "loss of sensation" .....

.... by doing it this way, as opposed to a 100% loss of sensation if you have it detatched. I don't want to lose the feeling there!! That would be very VERY sad!!! LOL.

@heidi d.--YOU'RE ON!! Come and get it!!! Also, one place that responded to my email said it would take about 10 weeks to make the outfit that I want.

@Rosie--Yes, Lea is wearing a traditional dress and it is gorgeous!! (No, I haven't seen her all "dolled up" in it. I know I have to wait for that, but she was worried that I wouldn't like it and showed it to me already. I know for a fact that she's tried it on at least 3 more times since she got it. I think that's just too darn cute.

@dai69--Yes, I have something very specific in mind as to what I want to wear. This is it (Hopefully I can get the picture to pop up in here)

I am hoping that when I go to get it made that they can make it in the same color as Lea's dress. I also want to make sure that my train is shorter than hers. I don't know why that's important to me, but it is. The train will also be detachable, so I can take it off at the reception if it's getting in my way. It will also allow me to be able to possibly wear the pants again if there's ever an occassion for white super-girly pants. LOL.

If the insurance doesn't cover the reduction, then the top will have to be made differently so that I can wear a bra underneath. There's not enough "boning", etc that they can put in that top that will hold these girls up without it looking bad, I don't think. So I'd need something with some type of sleeve or at least a "tank top" sized strap to go across my shoulders to hide the bra. I'm really hoping I don't have to go that route though.

That is a gorgeous outfit! I think it will look great. And that is really sweet of your father to show his support for the two of you like that.

One thing to consider is that a corset can hold up a truly amazing amount of bosom--I've heard it's all about fitting in the waist. So you might just try on some corsets to see if they work better than you think. Good luck with the insurance, though! I know how hard it is on your back carrying all that around. Smiley sad

@Shannon, yeah that keyhole things sounds like what I got, sorry for confusion. Yeah they wanted to make sure I kept feeling as well. I would've been happy as a D, but they took me to a C since we weren't sure I was finished growing (surgery was 6 days before my 18th birthday). I've slowly gone up to a D, but I think that's mostly due to weight gain than anything else. Good luck!

Hey Sharine...I found this picture online. I went to yahoo and typed in "wedding pantsuit" and looked at the images. I've tried to find who makes it (it wasn't listed in a clothing company site) and have yet to find out, so I'm going to have to get it made.

What I like about it, is that if you look at the picture from the thigh up, it looks like a regular wedding dress. But I'm still able to wear pants which I'm much more comfortable in. I'm glad that Lea is very cool with this type outfit. She told me that she loves me for me and that she knows that I'm not going to be comfortable in a dress. I did try on a couple of dresses for my mom, though. She was thrilled but also recognized that I wouldn't be comfortable in one.

@Sharine---If you get that made, please post some pics. That's very much the same kind of idea that I'm wanting. I love those designs. It will give a bit of a wedding dress feel that my mom would love, but still allows me to be in the pants that I'm comfortable wearing.

    OH HECK YEAH!!!!!!!!

I just found out yesterday that my insurance company is going to cover my surgery (well, the standard 85% of it anyway). Since we're going to California in June, I've scheduled the breast reduction for August 11, 2010 at 7:10am!!! That should still give me plenty of time to heal up and let the girls settle into their new position before the wedding. It will also give me plenty of time to have my outfit made as well. YIPPEE!!!!!!
