Hypothetically, if you had photographer who needed, say three 20 minute breaks throughout the day to pump, but you also had a second photographer, so important moments would still be covered, would you be uncomfortable using that photographer?

I wouldn't have a problem with it as long as there is a 2nd photographer so that nothing is missed.

I wouldn't care. I would make sure they knew the timeline and when the big moments were. If there was a second shooter, moments wouldn't be missed.

A girl's got to do what they got to do...but like others have said, I'd feel most comfortable if you include a second shooter in case there are moments you may need to miss. (Most "big" activities have large enough gaps though that I feel you could sneak away for a little!)

Word of advice...if trying to get pregnant, know how you'll handle it when it happens. 7 months before our wedding, our photographer emailed me to let me know that there was a conflict with our date. She had gotten pregnant (unplanned) and was due 2 days before so wouldn't be able to be there. She did offer a back-up photographer that agreed to the same price package she had offered....but it really threw a wrench in the planning. Best of luck!

I agree with PPs. I'd be ok with it as long as I knew ahead of time and you guaranteed a competent/experienced second shooter and that you'd be around for key moments. I would probably freak out a little if you just disappeared on us.

We actually plan on trying so that the due date falls during the off season. I won’t be taking any November 2019 through March 2020. If we don’t get pregnant during trying Spring 2019, we’ll hold off till 2020, and then figure out a new plan from there, possibly only taking on weddings booked less than 8 months out.

Absolutely! They know how to schedule things so they can make it for all the big events and still have everything covered by the other photographer.

Honestly, that would incentivize me to hire a new mother. I always try to support mothers/ breastfeeding as much as I can. I agree with other posters that having a second shooter would be a positive, but honestly, there really shouldn’t be a reason a photographer can’t tske 3, 20 minute breaks throughout a 10 hour day. For example, I wouldn’t (and don’t) expect my photographer to be at my getting ready stage for 3 hours. 1 hr (or even 1/2 hr) is sufficient, and that half hour can be strategically planned.

Once you are ready to discuss the pregnancy (when it happens) I would simply let the couples who's dates may be affected know what's up.
And if they are for some reason really inflexible about it I would be really chill on refunding their deposits.

Personally I wouldn't mind at all!! I would want to scheduled those 20 minutes increments into my day. Like you do the accessory photos then pump. Then do my getting ready photos then pump. Then do his photos and the ceremony then pump. Then reception. Even with second photogrpagher I think I would just look forward to my own breaks of possibly not being photographed. Lol
