Bridal hair style - opinions needed

Kristen, on December 7, 2019 at 11:32 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 4
Soooooo I was dead set on a side sweep with loose curls for my hair style which I think compliments a mantilla lace veil well. Well yesterday got a new hair style which is called sassy curly and I love. I can get longer extensions but I am now considering this either loose or side swept. It can be flat ironed as it's real hair. How did you choose your final look? Did you change your mind? Which would go w a mantilla veil. Pro to curls is i wouldn't need a hair dresser most likely but con is maybe loose curls look best w mantilla veils. I am open to suggestions.

    Hey Kristen!

First I want to say congrats on your marriage! I hope you have a wonderful planning and a wonderful married life.
As far as picking a hair style. I sat on Pinterest and looked at various styles. The style I truly wanted I didn’t get because I always go to that style - half up half down with loose curls. I wanted to do something I wouldn’t normally do, as well as something that is beach appropriate - avoid wind blown hair in my face during vows. So I ended up doing a bun with a side braids and hair jewels, especially since I didn’t do a veil. My suggestion is to try out the hair styles and see what you like. I was able to do a hair trial and try on my dress (the next day) to make sure it’s what I like. Would you want to do your hair or have someone do it? I’m not good at doing hair and loved having my hairdresser involved. But I would say just try out the different styles and see how you actually like them. For me I’m very visual and needed to see the magic my hair dresser can do with my hair to pick what I actually likes. So I think once you see the styles you can definitely decide on the style you want. Do you have anyone close to you that you trust their opinion because having them involved might help with styles.

It's funny that you are saying that the style that you wear is your go-to because I've done a ponytail and I've even done on myself a side swept hair-do and I feel like that is kind of my go-to and it's something that I could do if I needed to. Maybe I should do something a little bit different. I think you make a good point there. I definitely know that I don't want to do a bun but I'm not against maybe pulling a little bit of my hair back so I don't have a lot of hair blowing in my face. We haven't locked down a venue yet but one place that I am considering would be Puerto Rico which is an island completely surrounded by water. Even if we do l a well we would probably do something by the beach possibly. The only reason I'm considering doing something myself is because we are having a destination elopement and I know financially I'm not going to travel to that place in advance to try to find a hairdresser. I do have someone that I go to regularly that I would trust to do my hair so I was definitely thinking to prior to the day have her try out of style on me and give me tips of how I can do it myself. That's why I definitely do not want a complicated hairstyle because I'm not sure if I will go to a random hairdresser over there and take my chances, although I have not often seen that work out well, or just do something myself. A part of the reason I was considering the look that I have now is because it's just curly hair and all I really need to do to prep it is spray a little bit of water mixed with conditioner on it and just kind of run my fingers through it and then I could put it back still to a side ponytail but I wouldn't need to go to a salon to have someone straighten it and curl it for me. Thank you for your opinion it was really helpful and I'm not sure if that's the point you were trying to make to me hahaha but I think I will try something just a little bit different then what I have done when I have been a bridesmaid.

I’m glad it was helpful. My best advice is to pick something that makes you happy. I just wanted to do something different than my normal. It’s not every day I get my hair done. So I wanted something elegant, easy, and good for the beach. Having a destination wedding does make it a little challenging. But talk with your hairdresser and see what she suggests. One thing I wasn’t aware of when I was talking to my hairdresser was not only the hair accessory (veil, jewels, etc.) impact the decision of the hair, but the neckline of the dress. I know you will make the best decision and you will look stunning on your wedding day! 🥰

Yeah I'm from Florida so I definitely know how the beaches can be hahaha. So with that said maybe having my hair completely loose is not the best idea but I do agree it's one day so I should try to do something a little bit different than the norm. My dress is strapless so I think it is pretty versatile with any style but I do want a style that matches well with baby all that I have. It seems that having a little bit of hair out looks great with that but I've also seen some up to that look great with me too. I will definitely ask her opinion and play around. Thank you again for the great advice I actually feel better.
