Bridal Jewelry- Splurging or Saving?

ALYSSA, on March 27, 2019 at 2:46 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 37

Hey ladies,

I was just wondering what everyone is doing/planning for their bridal jewelry, are you saving by doing costume jewelry or splurging for finer pieces to last a lifetime?

My dress already has a lot of sparkle and bling, so I don't feel the need to have big statement piece or anything. With that being said, I'm tempted to invest in some finer pieces that won't fall apart in a few years.

I plan to go the blingy costume jewelry route, but I'll still spend around $100 on a necklace / earring set. My dress is completely covered in lace though, no bling.

I bought a pair of earrings from David's Bridal for $15. Nothing too extreme, but bridal looking (I normally just wear studs). I'm still looking for a necklace to match or fit with my dress. Probably will spend $15-$20 on it. I'm not a big jewelry person so I didn't want to go overboard, plus, I had to keep my budget in mind.

I'm considering going the more blingy statement necklace route with a simpler earring. My dress is all lace and nothing shiny, though, so I kind of feel like it needs a lil somethin more up top.

My dress does not require much jewelry like a statement necklace or anything so I plan on splurging a little on some pearls Smiley smile

We went crazy expensive with my engagement ring and our wedding bands, that was most important to us. I went inexpensive with my bridal jewelry. Bought earrings, necklace, bracelet and tiara from Davids Bridal and then had them all customized by replacing some of the stones with purple stones.

I bought “fine” jewelry during the holiday season since department stores make a big deal about gifting jewelry. I’m not wearing a necklace since my dress is high neck with some bling so I bought a 2-pair pear and crystal earring set, originally $50 for $5 (sale and reward points). I don’t wear bracelets so unless I’m surprised with a something new or borrowed bracelet I’m not wearing anything on my wrists.

I think it’s also a personality thing. If you’re not into fine jewelry I wouldn’t think that buying expensive jewelry for the wedding is a must. Check out JJ’s House for their jewelry section they always have beautiful shiny pieces for a great price!

This is one of the areas I chose to save in. It wasn't very important to me.

My headband was $15 from Amazon and my earrings cost $20 from Kate Spade (outlet sale...originally $60). It wasn't that important tot me to have expensive jewelry.

I'm wearing my statement earrings from a pageant from back in high school and I bought a hairpiece from Amazon for like $15. I think it's best to invest in finer jewelry so you can get multiple wears out of it.

My MIL makes jewelry, so she's making me a gorgeous blush pearl necklace. I'm borrowing a pair of opal earrings from my mom to cover my "something borrowed."

Saving. I'm not a huge jewelry person at all. All I wear is my ring and a pair of studs every single day, I'm just not into jewelry like some other people are. I'm way more into clothes, shoes, and makeup haha I'm just wearing a pair of costume drop earrings that were like $20. My dress has a lot of detail so I didn't need a lot.

Saving. My grandma is letting me wear her jewelry, so I’m not spending anything! It’ll be my something borrowed.

I wanted to get something nice, but I didn't want to spend a TON. My ring set is vintage, from Etsy, and my dress is understated (though I have a very blingy applique for the waistline). I bought a graduated pearl necklace, and a delicate three strand pearl bracelet, both genuine, both vintage. I still need to find earrings, and I can't find any pearl earrings I'm super happy with. I'm torn between getting some pearl studs or drops, or looking for gemstone ones.

If you shop on Poshmark you might be able to get a nice pair of real pearl and/or gemstone earrings at a decent price.

My first marriage I wore a pearl necklace given to me by my dad and little pearl drop earrings which were my moms.

This time around I was going to wear rhinestones but I was gifted recently with some lovely fine jewelry so will be wearing that instead which Im perfectly happy with of course!

I'm just doing earrings and don't plan on spending more than $20 on them--probably Amazon. I also got a vine headpiece for $20 on Amazon.

My veil was super pricey and my dress was a bit more than I had originally planned for so I wanted to go budget in some areas!

I looked and looked and looked to find jewelry that I felt matched my dress. My dress is a champagne color and I had an idea in my head of what I wanted for jewelry but couldn’t find anything. My FH and I were walking through Macy’s and suddenly the perfect set caught my eye. It gave me butterflies so I ended up splurging and spent $150 for necklace, earrings, and bracelet.

I’m fortunate because one of my grandmothers loved collecting jewelry. My family kept it all after she died in 2010 and haven’t gotten around to having them appraised. So I will have a free necklace and pair of earrings to wear on my wedding day; plus, it will be my something old. My original plan, however, was to get something cheap from Amazon. Weddings are so expensive, and we’ve prioritized food over everything else!
