Hey ladies,

I was just wondering what everyone is doing/planning for their bridal jewelry, are you saving by doing costume jewelry or splurging for finer pieces to last a lifetime?

My dress already has a lot of sparkle and bling, so I don't feel the need to have big statement piece or anything. With that being said, I'm tempted to invest in some finer pieces that won't fall apart in a few years.

They use a lot of 3d flowers on their dresses lately which is a bit on an inspiration behind my wedding veil!

My earrings were super big, but definitely costume. I didn't wear a necklace (my dress had crystal straps and a lace applique on the shoulders) and my bracelets were my mom's. I had flower pins to match the flowers in my bouquet (Etsy, $16) but other than that, I let the dress do the wow-ing Smiley smile

We're using purple as our wedding color too! Did David's Bridal do the customization or did you take it elsewhere to add the purple stones?

So gorgeous! It looks like my dress has a similar neck line, but without the straps I feel like a just need a little something on my décolletage.

I had a local seamstress replace the stones. Here are pics. The sash was bought from etsy. All the purple stones were added.

I was not a very bridal type of bride and my dress was very intricate. I opted for a mixture of jewelry that was made of brass, rose gold, and gold and were a mixture of things I already owned and some that I purchased.

I had the most difficult time looking for a backdrop necklace so I took a necklace my husband gave me years ago and attached it to a necklace my grandma gave me also years ago who wasn't able to attend the wedding.

I bought pieces that I love and that I could use for years to come, that had an emotional connection with. I literally wear the bracelet, all my rings and the ear cuff almost every day, the necklace can be changed back to their original states or to be used for another outfit of similar silhouette, and the earrings on some days out.

My earrings were $48 and my bracelet was $80.Bridal Jewelry- Splurging or Saving? 8

I am going to order a simple jewelry set off of Etsy that matches the belt on my wedding dress. I don't want to take away from my dress too much!

Hey there, I am thinking of making my own jewelry for my wedding. Where can I get some gemstones?

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding, that's so exciting! Making your own jewelry sounds like a really personal and unique touch to add to your special day. As for where to get gemstones, I recently came across https://www.nationalfacets.com/collections/gemstone-beads which has a great collection of gemstone beads. I ordered some for a DIY project I was working on and was really impressed with the quality and variety they had available. It might be worth checking out to see if they have what you're looking for.

I personally opted for a more extravagant purchase to match the sapphire in my bedding band set. I love jewelry and this will be a forever necklace and earring set.. Also, my reasoning was that I worked very hard to earn a nice bonus and while I put almost all of it towards covering 64% of my wedding, I did splurge on the $72 set because I frickin' earned it. And no, I did not include it as part of my budget.

Mine is a simple lace sheath dress and the daytime wedding is also small and simple, and it's actually a Catholic "convalidation" ceremony after 38 years of marriage. That said, the jewelry pieces I'm wearing are all ones I already own and most have special significance: I'm wearing a short strand of beautiful genuine pearls that my husband gave me last Christmas. I'm also wearing a small gold and diamond cross that was Mom's (a gift from Dad), on a chain that was her Mom's. I'm wearing simple drop earrings - a teardrop pearl with a tiny diamond. I may not wear a watch or bracelets because of the long lace sleeves but if I do, it'll be a genuine pearl bracelet with a gold clasp, and a good quality gold-toned watch bracelet with a small oval face and tiny diamonds around the bezel, that belonged to my MIL, a gift from FIL. And, hubby and I will exchange the same wedding rings we were married with 38 years ago, and I'll wear my original engagement ring.
