Okay, my friends, my husband and I have come to a point at which we think we may need to take out a loan to pay for some of the reception. We encountered a website called Bridal Loans and I was just looking for some advice from all of you on what you thought.

She didn't even lose her job, just other bad luck all at once: car, health, etc....you're right...you never know what will happen....most people in the country are just one paycheck away from disaster...I don't know, it's not for me....but I really really really need security so I'll go without until I have a cushion for if I fall

I agree with happybride. If you and your FH decide this is the best decision for the two of you (and ultimately this is the most important opinion of all) than definitely check your bank. I'm not sure if you are a part of a credit union, but in my experience they give you great rates! Also, it's usually very easy to get a personal loan if you have your payroll check directly deposited into your bank account. Good luck Smiley smile

Thank you all for your input. My husband and I were just considering it. There is still a small chance that we will take out a loan somewhere to help pay for some of it, but it's still up in the air at the moment. So here's a little more 411 on out situation.

My husband and I are already married, as I think I may have mentioned to some of you before. When we got married previously on May 15, all we got was a quick little courthouse wedding to get all of the formalities out of the way and because we really wanted to get married and couldn't afford to have a big wedding. Just recently we decided to start planning our big beautiful wedding for next October. My parents, and probably my grandparents, will be helping pay for some of the wedding, but the larger deposits, such as the reception venue reservation, will be cutting it close. We were looking into loans, but it is something we will have to discuss with my parents, and others who are helping pay for the wedding.

Thanks for all the input as I was thinking the same thing for our wedding. We are older and just don't have the money to throw around, BUT we have spent THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of dollars on friends and relatives for weddings over the years. We want to have a wedding and we aren't afraid of getting the money back to cover the loan. Is that silly? I don't want to think of it that way, but in all reality, why should we have a tiny wedding because we can't personally afford something larger (due to economy). We are only doing this once!

(And yes, I am certain my friends will be generous!)

Please don't condemn me for writing like this, I am taking this writing purely from an economical aspect.
