Most of my girls did their own makeup. One breaks out easily so she wanted to make sure she used her own makeup. Anjther doesn't wear a lot of makeup so she wanted to do it herself. Another didn't have the money. As long as the bride isn't requiring it to be professionally done then I don't see a problem with it.

I think you'll look fine. However, you could always look up the hired HAMU artist & see if they do more natural looks that you like.
