Bridal Party Olympics?

Amy & Dan, on September 8, 2014 at 5:05 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 13

Has anyone done this/or thinking to do this? We have a lot of people in our BP who are coming in from out of town, so they won't really get an opportunity to meet or get to know each other much before the wedding. I was thinking of doing an afternoon dedicated to just hanging out and doing something fun and BP Olympics came to mind. I thought of doing guys vs. girls and just doing some fun field-day like things...water balloon toss, relay race, etc. I also thought of doing more adult versions like flip-cup, etc. My main thing is I don't want to do anything to physically taxing b/c I don't want anyone getting injured the week of the wedding lol. Does anyone have any ideas?

Are you expecting them to come in from out of town early for this?

I guess I don't see much of a point to it. The last wedding I was in, I met the groomsmen at the rehearsal. There is no need for the entire wedding party to become BFFs and socialize.

Everyone is coming the week of, so we were thinking about doing it a couple of days before the wedding just as a fun way to introduce everyone and also a fun way to de-stress.

I wanted to do beerlympics for our "shower". I think it would be awesome!

This isn't gym class or a kid's birthday party. How about some beer pong?

I would think we would need more options than just 1 game. I love beer pong, but there are also people on the BP who don't drink, mainly my FH, so I don't want to make them feel uncomfortable the entire time.

Gotcha. If they're already going to be there, then that sounds like fun.

Just have a cookout or something. It's not P.E., organized activities don't need to be planned. If they were and I was in the BP, I would not attend.

That is definitely an option @KaylaP, but I also want to do some other games too. Anyone have any other ideas on what else to incorporate?

Also, should've mentioned I know this is something everyone in the BP would enjoy. I know them very well and they would like to do it. I just need game ideas/ideas on how to set it up. I really like the bbq idea!

There are TONS of beerlympic games you can do besides beer pong (some even include a slip n' slide!)

I wouldn't make it required. Group things like this typically make me uncomfortable when forced to do something. Have a party big ass BBQ with beer, if drinking games ensue, great, but anything staged is typically not the best use of your time together.
