Bridal Party Proposal vs Day of Gifts?

Taylor, on July 10, 2020 at 6:09 AM Posted in Planning 1 11
Hi all!
Did you do both a proposal gift and day of gift for your bridesmaids? How did you make them different?
Not trying to go too over the top, but thought It would be nice to do both!

I was going to until two of my three bridesmaids (who both got married in the past 5 years) told me not to waste money on presents asking them to be in my wedding.
I would say it depends on your relationship with the people you’re asking. All of my bridal party, myself included, are school teachers so none of us have a lot of extra money laying around.
I will say that it means more if you ask in person, although my moh i had to ask via video chat since she lives 20+ hours away.
    Congratulations ❤️

I didn't really get my bridesmaids a proposal gift. I had purchased heart-shaped puzzles that asked them to be my bridesmaid, but I don't really consider that a gift. I am getting them day of gifts for being in my wedding. If you're planning to do a proposal gift, you could always do a general theme that matches with the day of gift. For example, a Starbucks gift card in the proposal gift, and a (non-wedding related) personalized coffee mug with a bag of their favorite coffee beans in the day of gift.

I gave all my bridesmaids a proposal gift. My fiancé is giving all his groomsmen their gifts the day of my wedding. My friend gave me a card asking me to be in her wedding and then gave us all gifts at the wedding.

I did a very small gift when asking them to be in the wedding- a small knot bracelet and monogram jewelry dish. The box of the bracelet said “I can’t tie the knot without you.”
For the wedding, I’m giving them each a getting ready outfit, earrings and a clutch to use for the wedding so I definitely splurged more on that.

I kept it simply for asking, I have each of my bridesmaids a bottle of wine and a card.

For day of gifts, I got everyone pajamas to get ready in and the cute little toiletry bags for traveling because they are all flying to my wedding.

For MOH proposals I made all three of us mugs and filled theirs with candies, and gave them each a handmade card.
For gifts, I’m going to get each one something personal, nothing that says maid of honor or is a prop for my wedding like pjs or robes. I’m still searching for the perfect gifts.

The women in my bridal party weren't the biggest fan of getting gifts like that, plus I have so much stuff from being in weddings that never get used lol so I will be covering their hair and makeup for the wedding day instead Smiley smile

I'm only having 2 MOH's, so I did a little proposal box and will do day-of gifts too.. I had a little scratch-off "Will you be my MOH?" card with a handwritten letter, my favorite picture of us, a candle, some "will you help me tie the knot" hair ties, and their favorite alcohol. For the day-of gifts, I plan on getting them a personalized coffee cup/or tumbler, maybe a robe, a "bridesmaid survival kit" with things like advil, mint, etc. And probably something else!

We got engaged during the stay at home order, so I sent proposal cards and small boxes in the mail since I couldn’t see them in person at all. The boxes had a pretty notebook and pen, wine tumbler, fabric hair ties, and monogrammed makeup bags. My younger cousin got a cloth headband instead of the tumbler.
They will be getting thank you gifts the night before the wedding as is customary, along with our parents. I haven’t decided what they will be getting yet, but I plan to shop for them as if I’m shopping for their birthdays so that it’s unique to each person. They’ll also be receiving shirts to wear while getting ready (that are plain so they can wear them again), but that doesn’t count as a gift since it’s more for the wedding than anything else.
