Bridal party slow dance.. Really?!

Mr&Mrs89, on August 18, 2017 at 10:56 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 39

Ok . So I'm a bridesmaid at my best friends wedding and she wants us bridal party to Slow dance together. I know a dance is a dance. It's not a big deal really but to me it's awkward to ask two people to dance close in proximity like that.. We just met and we will be in silence most likely because we do not know each other lol

I heard of group choreographered dances but slow? I never asked that at mine and never would especially if I know two people don't know each other.

Am I wrong for thinking like this???

Have you heard of bridal party slow dance? I never heard of it until now

1/2 thru our 1st dance, we are thinking of having our wedding party join us on the dance floor...but with their SO. ETA my reasoning is there are pics of the bride/groom during the dance...no real pics needed of the wedding party dancing together...so whats the point?

No your definitely not wrong. I have been to two friends weddings that had their wedding party do a slow dance. I thought it was a bit tacky and awkward. I for one will not be doing that, I don't want to put anyone in an awkward situation.

ETA: It was awkward for me personally cause my FH was dancing with another woman in close proximity.

This sounds like something that happened when ruffled tux shirts were a thing. Super awkward

Yeah, it would be kind of odd for your significant others to stand there and watch you slow dance with someone else... I would not feel comfortable with that.

Have you tried talking to her about it?? Just say it's kinda awkward?

No I didn't say anything. I didn't want to come off in front of the guy like something wrong with him..when there is nothing lol You know? She just comes out at the rehearsal in front of everyone oh and by the way your all doing a slow dance. Ok thanks. I kind of feel like I should have made her do a speech at my wedding instead of thinking about what she wants but no I asked her if she feel awkward.. She said she can't do a speech to awkward and I said okay don't worry about it not big deal.

Now it's her wedding and she's just not being so thoughtful I guess. Just pushing it. I know if I said something she wouldn't care cause it's her wedding. I know her to long to know lol

I can see them asking you to dance with your SO but not with someone who is a perfect stranger to you. Awkward.

Right??? I don't understand why it has to be with other person. If it was a fun group dance then ok why not but lovey slow dance with a person I barely know... Ummmm no. But guess I got no choice ugh maybe they will forget lol

Sounds awkward, I'd be so uncomfortable dancing with someone a barely knew.

I was in a wedding where we did this- I knew my GM very well, and it was still pretty awkward. She thought it would help encourage people to get on the dance floor, but I don't think it did.

That's horribly awkward. So she wants you to dance with a man or woman that's not your so?? Um so awkward, you have a right to feel weird about it!

That would be so horrifically awkward. I'd spend the whole day worrying about that (to be fair, I'm a super introvert who doesn't like being touched) and not enjoying the wedding at all.

Super awkward, and honestly, would feel very wrong to me. It's completely rude of her to ask you all to do that.

ETA: I agree with ^^^. I HATE being touched by strangers, and dislike being touched even by acquaintances. Hell, I don't really like hugging my friends. This would piss me off if I was asked to do this.

Awkward and outdated. When I was in a friends wedding many years back she had us do this and I found it awkward then. I had to dance with someone I didn't feel comfortable dancing slow with. I see no point in it. Definitely not doing it at mine.
